“A little gem in Tuscany”
Reviewed 20 August 2012 for a stay in July 2012

We had the pleasure of spending 5 glorious days at Patrignone in July. It was everything we had hoped Tuscany would be. We loved every moment, as did our two girls, aged 11 and 14. We were able to finally relax, after many days of travelling, and visiting busy cities like Venice and Milan. We spent part of our days visiting some of the local sites, but looked forward mainly to lazing about by the beautiful pool, or visiting with the chickens hiking with the dogs (Charly and Lola). Our two bedroom apartment was the perfect combination of rustic and elegance. I marvelled to Verity and Simon about how glorious the bedding was, with crisp white sheets perfectly ironed ( thanks Pam!). It made getting in to bed every night a special treat.
The location is perfect, for visiting many wonderful towns and villages. Only a short drive away from Florence, Siena, San Giminiagno. We fell in love however with the tiny town of Castellina, which was only ten minutes away. We will definitely go back!
Simon, Verity and their lovely children were supremely hospitable and made the vacation extra special for us. We thoroughly enjoyed their company, as well as their helpful advice on how to get around and where to eat. We were very lucky to meet some other lovely guests, and spent many an evening outside on the patio ,chatting late into the night over a glass of Chianti.
A truly memorable holiday for us.

“Farmhouse villa in rolling hills of Tuscany”
Reviewed 17 January 2012 for a stay in September 2011

Our group of 8 rented the entire villa for a 6 night stay in late September. From my first email to our wave good-bye I had a terrific experience. Simon was very prompt answering my questions and offered valuable insight into winery visits while I was still researching our stay. While we were staying on the property we were treated very graciously and given lots of help with directions and places to dine and visit. The home is a rustic farmhouse furnished adequately and very clean. There are other rooms in close proximity to the villa, some even as part of the entire building but it all is very private and self contained. The views are magnificent and the whole ambiance is very peaceful and quiet. I'd love to go back some day.

“Good place to start a Tuscan adventure”
Reviewed 5 August 2011 for a stay in June 2011

Was travelling with my wife on a whole, fabulous, month in Italy and was looking for somewhere to kick things off where, due to our total lack of competence in the Italian language, we could have some local knowlegde and advice on tap.
For this purpose it certainly served our purpose. Simon & Verity are very friendly & welcoming and their tips etc. were much appreciated.
Firstly, finding PP is definitely not straight forward. The turn off from the "main" road is tiny, to say the least, and quickly turns to gravel. It almost looks like a private farm road. A sign to PP there might be a good idea.
We stayed in the converted stables. Very spacious, well equipped, nice patio where we ate quite a few dinners + every breakfast. The website photos are totally accurate. While it is an unusual conversion to appartments/B&B complex, each accomodation is individual. Plenty of farm antiques hanging about for atmosphere. Even though there were other people staying in other parts of the property you hardly ever saw anyone.
There is a pool a short walk down the slope, and while we did not go swimming we did spend a few late afternoons on the lounges watching stunning views with wine in hand.
just two negatives, from our point of view anyway. It is a relatively remote rural property and the apartments have no TV or radio/CD available. We're OK with the no TV (all Italian anyway) but some music would have been nice. Ic can be bloody quiet on the farm. The other thing, and this will sound petty, is the range of bath towels on offer. Like tea towel material without any absorbption. It doesn't sound like much but by the end of the week it was really bugging us.
Castellina has evrything you want. Great Butcher, nice produce to buy and a Bakery open every morning. The kitchen in PP was excellent.
One night a week Simon & Verity put on a dinner for residents at 40 Euro a head. Highly recommended. Loads of food and wine plus the chance to interact with other travellers.
I recommend PP for independant travellers. Fabulously positioned for driving to most of Tuscany's greatest hits. Just bring an iPod.
