Very nice hotel a short walk from the city centre with its restaurants, cafes and bars. Very convenient indoor parking and nice front desk staff (Englisg speaking). Rooms a little dated but nice beds and large bathroom. Good breakfast with fine selection.
Hotel Calissano is on the outskirts of Alba, but only 10 minutes walk from any place in the town centre.
We stayed two nights, en route from France to visiting our son in Munich. A perfect experience, from the helpfulness in going with me to park my car in the excellent underground parking, to nice breakfasts on the terrace, booking of an excellent restaurant ( and booking is really needed for the few places open on a Monday evening in Alba), relaxation at the bar and immediate response to our issue with the (very good) air conditioning.
The room was very nice and as expected, but it is the people who make the difference in a good hotel and I want to single out Bruno at the front desk for most of the help mentioned above and Maurizio at the bar.
Highly recommended.
Centrally located in the charming town of Alba. Attractive, spotless with many nice amenities including breakfast buffet, laundry and a cute, small bar.
But hands down, the best part is the staff. From when we first booked in the US to our departure EVERYONE was gracious, helpful and knowledgeable. Their help started soon after our booking when they helped us arrange for a car from the Milan airport and never stopped. If you want a great hotel with first-class staff, this is your place!
This hotel was wonderful - a great location in Alba, huge bathrooms, robust breakfast buffet included each morning, quick laundry service, cute lobby bar, and more. The bed was comfortable and the rooms were very clean and spacious. I would highly recommend staying here while you're in Alba!
Distinction: there is Hotel Calissano and apartments at Hotel Calissano. We stayed at the apartments, which are in an adjacent building to the hotel. Bruno went above and beyond at check-in. He took us to the parking garage & directed us where to park our electric car rental. He even hooked up the charging equipment. Bruno then escorted us to our apartment and pointed out all features. Kudos to Bruno!
The apartment had a full kitchen with refrigerator and stove. Private bath was a nice size but a couple of comments: the shower door did not close all the way so water was always on the floor after showering; the light in the bathroom was motion sensitive and out of range of the shower, unless you waved your hands above your head. There needs to be a manual override for the light. We had a balcony but there was no furniture on it so we had to take kitchen table chairs out if we wanted to sit outside. The location was great, a 5-10 min walk to the center of old town. However, the street the hotel is on is a bit dark and off the main road. Thankfully there was always other guests walking back in the evening, but for two women walking alone, it felt a little desolate/sketchy. Breakfast in the hotel was included. The dining room that breakfast was served was pleasing and had plenty of room. There were a variety of selections for breakfast. Would stay at Calissano again if in the Piedmont region. It was easy to explore and visit other towns & go on excursions. We went on a truffle hunt and winery tour/tasting within 30 minutes of Alba. Also explored neighboring towns of La Morra & Nieve. Alba's old town was charming and we spent a few days and evenings wining & dining.
