we live in Dubai and took my parents to muscat for the weekend when they came to visit. Naseem hotel was easy to book over the phone and the price seems fairly standard for the level of accommodation. the location is good with the corniche, palace and several good museums in close proximity. the grand mosque is a bit of a treck but mainly because it is out nearer the airport.
the rooms were clean and basic if a little cramped but fine as we didn't spend much time there. the bed was comfortable and the bedding clean. breakfast was fairly simple but adequate. parking right outside was no problem and taxis were easy to find to get to other places in muscat. there is quite a good museum on omani life and artwork behind the hotel but the one nearer the palace is better.
all in all I would reccomend the nasseem hotel, it is never going to win any awards but if you are looking for somewhere faily cheap, clean and friendly this is a safe bet.
we had some friends who stayed here a month later and didn't have such a good experience but that ay be related to themonsoon which hit that weekend!

At 21.800 OR for twin, a great price for a great location.

You cant ask for a better location on the Corniche in Muttrah.
Lots of free parking around, which is a bonus.

Rooms ok for the price. Dont expect luxury, just sufficient facilities.

Absolutely brilliant budget hotel. No frills but great service and ideal location. Staff couldn't do enough to help. Facilities all worked as they should. Great views (room 42) and simple but well cooked light breakfast. All in all, couldn't ask for much more.

I recently spent two nights at the Naseem hotel with my family of five (young kids 7, 6 &3). The hotel was in a good spot and the room/linen was clean. We requested a larger room as their was five of us and the room was adequate with extra matresses supplied for our children that I slept on!

Fittings were pretty basic in the bathroom and living room, however all functioned without a hitch. We had a good view of the harbour from our room and were close to the souk that wound its way through the city. There was a minor issue with our missing room key that was resolved in a reasonable time frame.

Overall the Naseem was good value, we were able to communicate communicate effectively with management & the room was clean. The hotel would perhaps be a 2 or 2.5 star.

I stayed in the Naseem hotel in May 2009. The rooms and bathroom are basic, but clean, and the staff friendly, and the price is right. I'd recommend it to anyone on a budget, as it's one of the more reasonably priced hotels in the neighborhood (15 rials for a single room with one big bed).
