“Not Impressed”

On arrival we were informed the Hot Tub was out of order and was not able to be used during the duration of the stay.

The cottage was dark and gloomy. There were very small windows in the bedroom that let in very little light. The ceiling was low and sloping and i grazed my head several times on the artex type ceiling cutting my head open and the bathroom door stuck as it scraped the floor.

The shower in the main bedroom was very difficult to get into as there was not enough room to open it and we had to squeeze in.

The floor to the lounge from the front door is dangerous as there is a big step in front and my wife hurt her leg on it several times.

There is NO smoke detector in the property and it is now law in France that one must be installed.

Although the garden is beautiful with excellent views the french doors have obscure glass in them which means you cannot see out as well as the front door which also has obscure glass.
The TV is a very small unit around the size of a large laptop screen.

Wow, in 5 years we have never had a response like that!
As detailed in the property description, The Croft is a 200 year old, restored workers cottage. Yes, the windows are small. Yes, the roof is pitched. Yes, there are stairs. It is a shame you had not read the description or viewed the many photos on our web site.
I hope anyone taking the time to read this will also look at all of our other reviews to make an informed and balanced assessment.
Good luck with your next holiday!

“A relaxing rural retreat”

Tucked away at the end of a lane, this little barn is an absolute treat. Fields in front and a large garden at the back, perfect for al fresco breakfasts. Inside quirky attractive decor, cosy rooms and en suites in both bedrooms makes it perfect to chill out. The double doors to the garden from the lounge/diner extends the living area. Freesat TV allows all English programmes and the WiFi was reliable and made researching the area a breeze.
Great location for nipping into Bussiere village to get fresh bread and morning croissants, only a couple of miles. Bikes were provided and the quiet lanes around the barn are fantastic for exploring local hamlets. It's a perfect location for exploring and seeing the medieval towns in the area.
Didn't meet owners Christina and Tom as they were away which was a pity, but all arrangements made by email and their English neighbours handed over keys and a welcome pack was provided.
Would definitely visit again!

Hello Elizabeth and thank you for your review. In regard to the internet, we DO have internet but unfortunately the day before you arrived the area had an electical storm which downed all internet connection in our village, including ours. Being a rural area, repairs take longer than a large city and we were unable to hurry the process despite having an IT person come and check to make sure it was not a problem with just our internet. Not being able to provide internet to our guests is very disappointing for us as well but beyond our control when the whole area is disconnected.
