“MossWebb family”
Reviewed 30 August 2018 for a stay in August 2018

Our extended family - age between 8 years and 72 years enjoyed two weeks in the delightful village of St Jacut de la Mar. The House -'La Maison de la Banche' - fulfilled all needs and provided our extended family with a beautiful base to visit the nine beaches and the surrounding areas. The house - is well equipped, lots of interesting and quirky rooms and sitting areas in a lovely location, with incredible views from all of the 'beach-side' windows - (the sunsets are particularly stunning). The garden was very 'child friendly' and the use of the bicycles, the paddle board, and the table tennis helped to make this a wonderful family holiday.
The owner - Abigael - was helpful and friendly. We would love to return in the near future.
Thank you.

“We all loved it.”
Reviewed 5 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

As a family of 14 ranging from 66 years to almost 2, it is not easy finding a property to accommodate all of us. La Maison de la Banche fulfilled our brief perfectly. We all loved the house and its position in the village yet overlooking the sea. The house was very clean and well equipped. The basement laundry room was a bonus. Although the kitchen was small and prep space limited, we adapted by making family sized one dish recipes to pop in the oven. There was a huge pot just right to enjoy the local mussels. The garden was safe for children and sheltered. St Jacut was a great location. Typically French village with lovely atmosphere and a choice of beaches within easy walking distance. We were unable to access the wifi but this was a bonus as the children enjoyed playing cards/games, table tennis etc without complaint. The cafe was a short stroll up the road for the occasional catch up. It was great to be greeted by Abigael who showed us around the house and gave us some local tips. We have many happy memories of our time here.

Hello Wendy, I don't think I ever thanked you for your nice review. You have been a lovely family to have in. I wanted to let you know that we are remodelling the kitchen this year to make it more comfortable with more prep space, the wifi is finally on (don't tell the kids) and we put a nice wooden stove with an oven and cooking space on top. So if you ever want to come back, we'd be very pleased to have you again. Cheers

“Relaxed and revitalised”

This is a lovely, large house with plenty of space, situated idyllically by the beach, literally at the bottom of the garden, canoes are provided so our family made good use of these on a usually very calm and safe bay.the garden is mature and well stocked with a variety of lovely shrubs, ideal for sheltered sunbathing.there is a raised viewing platform at the bottom of the garden, and we spent many happy hours up here just observing the world going by!The house was immaculately clean and very well equipped, especially the kitchen.very efficient washing machine and dryer in the basement. There is a very well equipped library, but not very many English books, there were a lovely selection of French reference books though!,again a lovely place to just sit and contemplate. The owner Abigael is delightful and nothing is too much trouble. She is very informative as to restaurants, things to do,supermarkets etc.We had a thou roughly good time, relaxing but fun, loved the market and the flea market.A beautiful place to stay!

“Beautiful House, personal and clean”
Reviewed 2 June 2015 for a stay in July 2013

Who: adults and two kids (3 and 1)
How: Rented a car from Rennes airport
Direction: The owner provide great directions and we did not get lost at all, in fact, we were even early
Outside the house: there is a little town within walking distance, where you can get all of your daily needs
Inside the property: The owner took very good care of it (she lived in it for a long time and had many memories in it), she would also ask that you take good care of the house and its furniture
We loved our stay and our visit, the property was a good surprise. it is true that the pictures really don't do the actual place justice, it's very pretty. And the view is NICE! You can see the high and low tide, just like Mont Saint Michel.
Note:
1. There is no bedding (as stated in the house rules). if you are not bringing your own, like us, who are from Hong Kong, then please let the owner knows so that she will prepare the beddings for you for a small charge
2. There is no toilet paper, please get some before the night gets dark (it's not very important but it's annoying not to have any when you need it).
3. The staircase is extremely slippery, please use with care.
Overall, we are very pleased.

Hello and thank you for taking the time for a review, and really I'm so sorry about the toilet paper, normally this does not happen, so sorry ! As for the stairs, they have been treated with anti slippery wax, although of course they remain quite steep as is the style in the area, which is why there is a rope on the wall all the way up. Thank you for the good advice to future guests. And please don't hesitate to come back !

“Absolutely charming true French style house in a beautiful location.”

Beautiful house with enough room for everyone to find their own space. Library with view of the sea was utterly delightful. I still miss sitting up there with my early morning cup of tea! We visited the various beaches and particularly liked the one the owner recommended for early morning sunshine. No crowded beaches, but people about, walking, biking, sailing and children playing on the sand. The Friday market was fantastic and we so enjoyed doing our shopping with the locals and visitors. If we ever manage to get the family on holiday at the same time again, it will be on our list!
