Beautiful Resort

5.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 27 Aug 2019via mobile
We visited this resort with our 3 kids and stayed for a week. Staff were lovely and very helpful.
Not many kids in the resort as everything quite expensive.
Food lovely and beach just breathtaking. Kayaks and paddle boards free to hire. We stayed in an overwater bungalow for two nights - definitely worth it!
Highlight was the crepe bar - sitting relaxing with a drink watching the sharks circle beneath you - amazing experience. Tours etc easily organised from hotel.
Jet skiing a must!! We were able to see a couple of the other resorts in Moorea on tours we did - Hilton looked far superior.
Memories to treasure forever!!

Great experience for couples. Do the Great experience. Do the ATV tour of Moorea! Very quiet and intimate for couples. Could use more lively night life options but excellent for couples. Also not many spicy food options so bring your own hot sauce if you don’t like tabasco only.

This 5 stars hotel in Moorea doesn't have anything that should have a 5 stars. Services, food quality, breakfast, room's swimming pool, beach. All they were 5 stars on '80s maybe. The hotel personnel never pay attention if the client needs something but you need to call them.

I was very excited for the Hilton Moorea and while the property is set in a beautiful location it was underwhelming. Most everyone was friendly but the service was not up to par. They often forgot our drink or food orders or got them completely wrong. After a few frustrating encounters we spoke with the manager on duty and he was very helpful. The level of service and attention to detail is not up to normal Hilton standards.

We did really enjoy the beach facilities and water sports offered. We stayed in a garden bungalow and the room was spacious and we loved the plunge pool. Overall not a bad hotel, for the price we were just expecting more.

We stayed at this property 6 years ago and eagerly waited our return. As previously cited, the location is superb. Moorea is a gem of an island, less inhabited than Tahiti or Bora Bora, tall majestic green peaks, beautiful multi-colored blue lagoons. Of the major hotels on the island, the Hilton is ideally situated with coral gardens just off the OWBs.

As HH Diamond members, we were treated well and were given the same OWB we requested, the same one we stayed in 6 years ago. The service overall was very good and the employees gracious and hard working. Dining experiences were good, somewhat expensive but being French Polynesia this is to be expected. Recent reviews cited issues with the pool. Although not on par with newer properties for a "wow" experience, it was clean and serviced often.

The poor marks come from the overall maintenance of the property. The palapa roofs on the OWBs are in great disrepair, wood siding needs paint. The piers have not been maintained. Our villa was worn from use, with tattered materials, beat up patio door, shutters in poor condition. It did not smell clean.

Overall maintenance was very different from our stay six years ago. We inquired if there had been an ownership change and there had been, from a local man to a Chinese corporation, 2 years ago.

Perhaps the new owners are anticipating a major renovation and are milking the property for cash while in the planning stage. If so, we feel their approach of not maintaining the property is eroding the goodwill the previous owner and the Hilton name has built through the years.

We love French Polynesia and the island of Moorea. If a major renovation is not in the plans for the Hilton Moorea, we unfortunately have spent our last nights at this one-time pinnacle property. Our rating would be lower if not for the good service and excellent location.

Very easy to get a taxi from the ferry to the hotel. Check-in was very easy and welcoming. They had a small breakfast spread of pastries, juice and coffee available.

Our room was not ready, but we were able to change at the gym and hangout at the pool while we waited. We stayed in bungalow 73. It was was amazing. Beautiful views of sunrise and mountains and doesn't look out onto other bungalows. The wifi as strong enough for FaceTime calls. There is complimentary water, soda and beer in the room. The overwater deck was very large. The room was generally very clean, but did see 1 roach on our first night. The bathroom was huge and magical.

There is tons of coral everywhere...so many fish to watch. Amazing! The water was deep and great for snorkeling. Take advantage of all the included water sports equipment. Kayaking, SUP, and snorkeling gear (flippers!). Tam, staffs the towel and sports hut and was super friendly.

Cultural night buffet was very expensive for 2 people, especially if you aren't all you can eat people. Lunch was really tasty. Crepe restaurant was really tasty too. The crepes are large, especially if you want to get dessert. We were full splitting 1 dinner crepe and 1 sweet crepe. Found it weird to charge for water at restaurants when it was included in the room free of charge.

Everyone that works at the hotel was super friendly, welcoming and helpful.
