Me and my partner visited here in June 2019. When I had gone to the bar to order drinks I was waiting a while when a bar maid had gone to serve someone had that just walked up to the bar and had not being waiting a while unlike myself and others. When me and another bloke had kindly informed the bar maid that we were next to be served the reply we had from her was a v rude one "There is no need to shout. If that's your attitude you can go elsewhere" Me and the other bloke had said "Fine, we will be going elsewhere with better service and better staff". The barmaid did not seem all that bothered in the slightest. I will not be visiting here again which is a shame as I've had no problems in other wetherspoons pubs.

Visited in late Oct 2020. Despite a busy busy atmosphere, the waiters were brilliant - never forgot or altered an order. Harry took many of our orders and was friendly and accommodating. 5/5 - will be back (when we can!)

Half an hour’s wait for four beers – and then they didn’t all arrive! This lunchtime visit started badly and got worse. We arrived at the pub around 11.50 in search of a pre-lunch drink. No-one checked us in but as responsible citizens we found the signing in list and registered. None of us has the Wetherspoons app so we took a ‘table service required’ sign and found a table, having checked and seen that there was a good choice of hand-pumped bitters at the bar. There was no bar service, due to Covid restrictions. The pub was quite busy and we wanted to enjoy the view of the beach: for some reason the balcony was closed so we chose a small table and added a chair to accommodate all four of us. Immediately we were admonished by a waiter, who moved us to an uncleared larger table. The table was given a cursory wipe, but nothing was done to sanitise the chairs, so I don’t understand why moving them was a problem (it didn’t compromise the 2m distancing). Another large group subsequently arrived in another part of the pub and was permitted to move chairs by the same waiter.
After some time we placed an order for the beer. The waiter returned shortly afterwards to tell us that one of our choices was unavailable, so we made a substitute and my husband went off to pay. A considerable while later we were informed that another of our choices was off so with some back-and-forth to check again what was on the pumps, we made another change. By 12.25, over half an hour after we had arrived in the pub, we made contact with the waiter to inquire why our beers still hadn’t arrived, and were told that yet another of our choices was unavailable. By this time, in spite of having paid for the drinks, we had had enough of waiting and were also worried as our car parking was getting short on time. When we went to the bar (out of courtesy) to tell the staff member there not to trouble pulling the pints, we found three drinks waiting on a tray and were told, rather tersely, that she would have brought them sooner but she ‘was all on her own at the bar’ and ‘was waiting to hear from us’ what we wanted to have instead of the unavailable beer. Her response to our gentle remonstration that we were disappointed not to have had a nicer time was not any sort of apology, but a rather inappropriate ‘I would like to have a nice time too’.
An email to Wetherspoons to complain formally was met by a reply telling us (and I quote)

Comments of this nature should always be raised with the manager on duty, during your visit.

If you do not feel satisfied with how the manager on duty at our pub handled your complaint, we would recommend contacting the pub and liaising with the pub manager…………………………
……Thank you again for contacting us. We will now consider this matter closed

Given that our in-person complaint at the pub was met with such a poor response we certainly don’t feel that this is a satisfactory answer!
Anyone can make mistakes, the question is how they are dealt with. In this case – not well! We are left out-of-pocket to the tune of four beers and with a poor memory of a trip to the Cabot Court.

I arrived at 11.50 and moved a chair to make a table for three into a table for 4. I was then told that no chairs were allowed to be moved, so we moved the chair back and moved to table 76. Later we saw chairs being moved in view of the same waiter and nothing was done. Chairs were not being sanitised, so I can’t see why we were not allowed.

Then our order was taken. 1 pint Ruddles, 1 pint Jail and 2 halves of Doom bar. We were told Ruddles was off, so 2 pints of Jail were ordered. After a while the waiter came back to say there was no Doom bar so we asked what was on. They didn’t know so I went to look and we ordered Abbot and Jaipor. We waited and waited and waited. At 12.25 we went to the bar to be told that there wasn’t any Jaipor! By then I was very cross and we decided to leave. We went to the bar to get a refund to be told by the bar staff that it wasn’t her fault as she was on her own doing the serving. She was quite terse with us and said that the delay was because she was waiting to hear what we wanted instead of the Jaipor!! However, no-one had told us that they were out of the 3rd beer that we had chosen! We left.

At all times we were polite to your staff, but felt that they were brusque (at the most generous!) to us and the service was abysmal. We paid for beer we didn’t get and came away really disappointed.

This pub is spread out over several floors and has lovely beer garden. It has some very nice tables available. Shame they felt a bit sticky and that the magazines left on them were dirty too. Orders can be placed via the app. On Sunday afternoon they seemed to struggle with the crowds, but on Monday morning service was very efficient. Tasty and good value breakfast.
