6 of us stayed over the New Year. Cottage is very well maintained, exceptionally equipped, very comfortable and warm within lovely surroundings. We had a great time in the cottage playing games ( most of which were provided) and took advantage of the local walks. The Lane End pub is a must for food. Talkin Tarn a very easy walk with plenty to do for kids and dogs. Went to Hadrians wall and Hexham both worth a visit. This is a must for countryside lovers, plenty of walks from the doorstep, don't forget the dog, 'Eddie' loved it!
My husband and I stayed in this delightful property at the beginning of October and, after more than 30 years of renting holiday cottages, can say that it is probably the best we have ever rented. Everything has been thought of, and every comfort catered for in such an excellent way.
'Gelt Woods' in the autumn was a picture of golds and oranges and a camera became essential for our daily walk there. We ventured as far away as Dumfries and The Solway Firth, Lake Windermere and the wonderful Lowther Castle, near Penrith ....and even managed to fit in an exhibition visit and a Rugby World Cup match in Newcastle.
Knowing relatively little about Roman Britain we found Vindolanda, and the other Hadrian's Wall attractions, on our doorstep fascinating. We visited Lannercost Priory and viewed the superb Burne Jones stained glass windows in the local Brampton church.
With a wide selection of excellent pubs to dine in and SO much to entertain us we shall definitely be knocking on Mark's door ( the friendly owner) very soon to book a return visit.
