The 'staircase' is scary in parts, but I embraced the wet and mud and slid down on my bum ! Felt much safer than walking, coming back up is v easy. If you are happy to wade thru the water (only just over knee height) then you can get in another way, if you head from the staircase alongside the top of the gorge for couple of minutes, towards the car park area ( as the crow flies ). Down to the little stream, and then into the gorge. Bring towels, shoes with grip and wade thru the water and enjoy, safely. Parking was ok, we arrived 1st thing in the morning ( 9am ish) and got a space, v busy when we left a few hours later - some people arriving by cab which seemed a better idea at that time of day. Simply amazing when you are down there, think it was the highlight of our trip, and worth the adventure for sure.
