Was very disappointed!! The 'reception' area was a little unorganised box which was unwelcoming.Booked last minute and although the family room (35&38 )were perfect for what we wanted we found them dirty and stinking of smoke!! The smoke was coming through the cavities behind the toilet and was so strong we had to buy an air freshener. The hot and cold tap were in reverse in rm 38 and for a family room not exceptable. Now where can I begin with the beds????? They were hand made from 6"x2" timber with cheap thin mattresses on which were very uncomfortable. Skirting boards were dirty, paint peeling and carpets that aren't even secured down around the edges.....For £95 a night I'd expect more!!

Stayed here a couple of nights on a random trip to Ilfracombe . This family run business is great . Lovely clean room and really friend people and staff in the bar . We love our curries and were not disappointed, the chicken Jungle Curry was outstanding and the portion was huge . We will be back .

This place must be the worst place ever. Food not what was offered on menu. Poor quality. Table outside full of dirty glasses and very sticky. The waitress who said she was also the manager and cook was very very very rude and arguementative when we complained. Awful attitude. Avoid this place like the plague.

Due to a flood at the hotel we had booked they booked us into the Britannia hotel for the night. We could not have been happier when we walked into our room and seen the view. Harbour view with the beach approx 15ft from our bed room window. Richard and staff made us feel very welcome and done everything to make our stay pleasant. A big thank you and look forward to seeing you soon.

This hotel suited our purpose as close to the quay for our trip over to Lundy, we stayed night before & night after our trip.
The pub/hotel was a little jaded as was most of a Ilfracombe but it was fine for a short stay.
The rooms were well equipped with reasonably comfortable beds.
The first room we had was a 'large bubble bath room', at the back with harbour view but it had a very small window which only opened a couple of inches so very little fresh air, there was an overhead as well as a freestanding fan but think it would be unbearable had it been very hot.
The second room was at the front with a larger window but very noisy water pipes when neighbouring rooms used their bathrooms.
There appeared to be a program of refurbishment underway as one staircase was cordoned off for painting & some doors looked like they had been recently replaced.
We paid extra for breakfast first day which was ok but not great but chose to eat out on our 2nd stay.
The location was very good, right by the quay & small beach and not too far from The a Marine long term car park which was on opposite side of harbour to quay.
