We have just returned from a 3 night stay at the Miclaran Guest House which was superb. We had a very warm welcome from Alan who showed us around and informed us of the nearest bars, restaurants etc. The Miclaran was spotlessly clean and a good size. Beds were comfy . Our room overlooked their wonderful garden and we also had a lovely sea view. Our room had complimentary bath products and also bottles of water. There was also tea making facilities. Breakfast cooked by Sue was delicious. You choose the night before what you would like with your choice of eggs. Choices of cereal, fresh fruit which differed each day and yogurts followed by a Full English breakfast which filled us up for the day. Toast was plentiful and tea and coffee. We missed Sue on our arrival day and she made the effort to introduce herself during the middle of cooking breakfast which we thought was very thoughtful. Nothing is too much trouble for Alan & Sue and they will do anything to help you. Shanklin is about a 25 minute walk away to the old town. We ate at Pendeltons and Pavorottis which are in the old town .Both meals were lovely. We also ate at The Hideaway which is not to be missed. It is just under a 10 minute walk along the coastal path which runs at the bottom of the guest house. Great atmosphere ,...More
