What was once an obviously grand building has been left to threadbare carpets, and a lift that has a sign saying it's permantly broken isn't good. However the main problem is not the fault of the hotel and it's the fact that the church bells ring on the hour EVERY hour throughout the night. If your a light sleeper like me you won't get a wink.
I'm giving it 3 stars purely down to the fabulous warm staff, great asset to this hotel and the food in the restaurant it lovely. Just needs a full refurb and a word with however is responsible for those bells

Had to cancel a business trip in the morning after only booking late the day before. Was told that to cancel it had to be over 24 hours from our stay (not mentioned at time of booking). Needless to say, they kept our money. Judging by the other reviews now seen on Trip Advisor, our cash is probably allocated to rectifying the tired furnishings!

The room itself was decorated to a nice standard very warm bed comfy. However few cobwebs in room the shower was broken off the wall the bath took ages to fill then the water just went down the plug hole as it wouldn't shut correctly. The lift needs repairing as the flights of stairs to the top floor is very tiring more good for anyone with disabilities.Breakfast was average felt it was pre cooked and left to dry up. I understand the hotel is under renovation but this doesn't make some of these issues acceptable. Staff friendly and very accommodating. Won't be staying again

I stayed here for one night on business. This is a nice hotel which is centrally located. The rooms are spacious with tea and coffee making facilities, a trouser press and TV. The bathroom is nicely decorated. The hotel is quite warm so it's worth knowing that you can turn your radiator down. Breakfast is fab with a choice of cereals, fruit, toast or a cooked breakfast. They will even make you a bacon or sausage sandwich to go if your in a rush. There is a car park which is a huge plus for me but it's quite small and can be a bit tricky to manoeuvre in. Overall a great stay.
