Note: To gain access from the beach road to the front door you have to climb 16 steps and access from the front door to the back lane there are 11 steps. Second time visiting the Fort and have booked again for 2019. Lovely property, very home from home feel.
The property is well equipped and carefully thought through.
The boot room is a great advantage especially as we stayed with two dogs and 6 people! Plenty of storage.
The views are stunning, you can easily sit in the window in the lounge for hours admiring the sea view.
The steps are not great for people unsteady on their feet, but most places with great views are elevated so it is to be expected.
Having one bathroom can be a little awkward if 6 people are planning to get out early but being on holiday that didn’t worry us. We weren’t really needing to rush out.
The cooker isn’t great (functionality not cleanliness) and could do with replacing but more excuses to eat out or try a take away!
One thing I think the property would benefit from is stair gates. This would stop dogs and young children trying to go up and down stairs.
All in all we loved both our stays here and the recent redecoration of the boot room and the addition of the outside shower was great. We’ve booked a 3rd visit here.

I am glad you loved your stay at the Fort and you liked the improvements to the boot room/ downstairs toilet and addition of an outside shower. The additional storage and hot shower for when you come off the beach are a welcome treat.
I also wanted to let you know we have just redone the upstairs bathroom which now boasts a walk in shower and separate bath, installed a new cooker and microwave and, put lovely slate tiles in the sun-room, which I think look great. I hope you like the further improvements when you come back for your third visit and you provide some more helpful feedback.

view to remember
lovely cream tea on arrival after a long journey. Lots of kitchen utensils. Not very clean , it needs a proper clean everywhere. the rugs are stained and everything is sticky. The toilet seat is nearly falling off and we spent 2 days of our holiday sorting out a broken shower- very annoying when you are sudded up and it trips the electrics. Although the owner very promptly sorted it out.....twice. It sleeps 6 !! beware 1 bed is a camp bed and one bed is a mattress on the floor!!! beautiful view and lovely window seat. close to town and lovely for the beach and canal.

perfect location for a beach holiday
The fort has wonderful views of the beach. Lovely clean house with original features, you are able to use body boards from the garage, which came in handy. We were able to take our dog, who like us enjoyed the walks along the cliff tops, these walks are easily access from the back of the property, and from around the beach.
The property has wifi, and a selection of games which were used in the evening by the all the family.
Just a lovely ideal base, will be back
