“Good location -,poor accommodation”

The location of this property is wonderful. Lovely walks from the door and about a mile or so from A38. There is a huge garden, with a large chicken run and a small woodland. Great space for children and dogs. However the garden is sprinkled with broken toys ( slide; trampoline) and there are a number of ramshackled outhouses so caution is advisable if you have adventurous kids! The cottage itself is very clean however is a bit like visiting your granny and not particularly in a good way. The old style TV does not have any BBC channels and if you want to watch a DVD then you need to remove the free view scart and plug in the DVD one! (Took me two days to work this out!). There are no lamps and as only one wall light worked the lighting was from the overhead main light. The kitchen is fairly well equipped and there is a washing machine, dryer and clothes line. The central heating did not work but there was a portable heater ( although in August there was only one night it was needed). The bedrooms do not have any bedside lamps; one of the twin beds the springs are poking through. The bedding was clean but well worn, just one pillow to each bed which were old, heavily marked and uncomfortable. I understand that some travellers to the cottage liked the friendliness of Brandon ( the neighbour and cottage manager) - personally I found his poping in a little less adorable as I do not really want to be bothered whilst on holiday - but this is a personal point and not one shared by others. There is no wifi but Brandon did give us the code for his but did not want any streaming. In summary it's a great location but an uncomfortable cottage which is very dated and we would not return or recommend.

Stayed in Delves Cottage for a week. Great base from which to explore the area, the coast, Dartmoor and South Devon generally. Could have done with 3 weeks as there is so much to see and do in Devon.
Cottage was great value for the price in terms of location, size (plenty of room for the 5 of us to spread out), location, amenities, location, the garden, location (right by a lovely woodlands walk) and the friendly hens, duck and cat. Did I mention the location is great? I agree with a previous reviewer, WiFi is a given these days especially in the middle of nowhere with young kids. Brandon was very friendly and helpful about great places to explore with the kids....which we did!!

“Well-equipped,spotless and comfortable in a lovely setting.”
Reviewed 16 September 2014 for a stay in September 2014

We extended our week to 10 days because the weather was so good and we found so much to do in the area. Our interests are walking, bird-watching and nature photography - there was a nature reserve on our doorstep and lots more within a 20 mile radius. The cottage had everything we needed and Brandon and Karen were very welcoming - lovely neighbours! Where else would you get a delivery of 4 fresh eggs passed thro the kitchen window one morning - so tasty! We plan to return next Spring.

We were happy to accommodate your extra days and glad you found so much to do in our area. There are many attractions in our area which are easily accessible - but natural and just plain good fun.

We look forward to having you stay again.

“LOVELY COTTAGE, GREAT LOCATION”
Reviewed 6 August 2014 for a stay in July 2014

Stayed for a week with family and 2 small children in this delightful cottage with a very large garden that was used to play and relax in. The location was superb, very peaceful and within easy reach of many attractions both local and not too far away. The cottage was very well equipped with all you needed for a great holiday. Thanks Brandon for your warm welcome when we arrived and your help when needed, it was much appreciated. We would love to come back as we did not have enough time to do all we wanted in this lovely county, hopefully see you sometime next year.

It was lovely to meet you and happy that you enjoyed yourselves. There are many things to do in our part of Devon and easy to get to: the beach, the moors and plenty of retail therapy opportunities.
Look forward to welcoming you in the future.
