A delightful cottage and delightful host!
The most delightful trip to the Forest of Dean and the most perfect stay at Badger’s End. It is a lovely, cosy cottage that really does feel like a ‘home from home’. A lot of this was down to Carol who went out of her way to make our stay extra special. She made us the most delicious homemade chocolate cake to enjoy and gave a guided tour of the orchard as well as recommending lots of lovely walks for us to enjoy with Taffi, our Welsh Terrier. We had an amazing few days and made precious memories as a family. We hope to return again in the future! Thanks for everything Carol 😊 x

A most beautiful tucked away cottage. Perfect in every way.
Perfectly located in The Forest of Dean. An absolutel gem and very well equipped with everything you might need. Perfect hosts and excellent communication. Surrounded by wonderful country side and wildlife. How lucky for us that we found it and would love to go back again, and soon. Our dog was welcome and enjoyed the beautiful walks surrounding the cottage. If you need a relaxing and peaceful break this cottage is for you.

Relaxing 4 night break
What a wonderful stay we had in Badgers end. Our party consisted of myself my adult son and his dog Fido. Having our own bathrooms was definitely a big plus and the cottage is very comfortable and has a lovely cosy feeling. The private woodland is something very special, we had some happy evenings sitting and enjoying the peaceful surroundings. Carol, the host, is very welcoming. Her local knowledge and recommendations for eateries etc were a huge help. Definitely hoping to return.

Perfect cottage, host, and location
We stayed at Badgers End for a week, and it was perfect. The cottage was delightful, characterful, tidy, and homely. The log burner was a real treat. Everything was comfortable and tidy. The host was wonderful, so keen to greet us, to give us lots of ideas for what do do, and was super-helpful if we needed anything. Carol even set up an Easter egg hunt for our kids and the cake we arrived to was delicious. Badgers End is secluded and it feels special for it, and the local area is packed with so many things to do. We will definitely be coming back!

Getting away from it all
We had an idyllic few days in the cottage. Carol's welcome was wonderful as was her delicious cake. We loved the pre-visit information and found many walks and dog-friendly pubs to relax in. The cottage was very comfy and the garden a treat. So much more to do in the area that we may be back!

Perfect weekend getaway!
We absolutely loved our stay - the cottage was so cosy and in a beautiful location. Everything had been thought of, and Carol could not have been more welcoming. She told us some history about the site and extensive woodland garden, and gave us great tips about where to visit. We were celebrating my husband's 50th birthday and Carol thoughtfully baked a delicious birthday cake which awaited us upon our arrival. There is so much to do in the surrounding area and the scenery is stunning. We hope to visit again soon, thank you so much!

Excellent location, lovely place and hosts
We had a great stay at Badgers End Cottage. The cottage is perfectly located for some amazing walks either right from the cottage or a few miles drive in the car. Your hosts Carol and Tony went the extra mile and provided a ton of information on local places to eat or attractions as well as one of the best chocolate cakes we've ever had upon arrival. Would absolutely recommend a stay here.

A very peaceful getaway.
We had such a lovely 4 night break away to celebrate our 10 year wedding anniversary. Carol was so kind and welcoming and recommended all sorts of local things to do. There is a great little play park just a 5 minute walk away and lots to do within a 10 minute drive. We enjoyed Puzzlewood, the railway station, Symonds Yat and Clearwell Caves. The cottage was just right for us two adults and our 9 and 6 year old. The beds and pillows were very, very comfortable and we had everything we needed. The games, books and toys were an added bonus and the toys were well played with by our 6 year old! Carol - Thank you for the delicious chocolate cake, thoughtful anniversary chocolates and the sweeties hidden in the stone wall by the forest faries on our last morning! We had a really wonderful time.

Beautiful cottage with an orchard attached....
badgers end is a beautiful old cottage with modern ameneties and a wood-burning stove in the living room. It's in a beautiful location. Carol, who lives next door, gave us several great recommendations for places to visit. Perfectly placed for the forest of dean - you can walk across wildflower meadows to the nearby town for supplies!

About the neighbourhood
Badgers End Cottage sits in a country lane which ends with a pathway whereby you can walk though an avenue of ancient trees into the nearby town to collect your bread if you wish from the local bakery which is open from 5am onwards! The views are spectacular to the Welsh mountains and the people in the area are friendly and welcoming. You can walk from the cottage into the Forest or down to the local 12C Ostrich Inn which serves real ales, fine wine and terrific food. The area abounds with wildlife and you sleep to the occasional sound of owls hooting, wild boar grunting down the lane and the badgers rustling in the woodland. This is overtaken during the day by peace, tranquility and silence!
Getting around
To see the sights you need a car though there are plenty of other ways of transportation to see this Royal Forest. Bicycles are fun, canoeing the river is awesome, riding (horse or llama) through the forest blends in with the wildlife and walking is terrific! The bus comes to the bottom of the lane once a week and goes 5 miles to town!
