This was our second visit to The Old Quay House. I don't give 5* ratings without a lot of thought but this establishment is simply the best. Great position, wonderful staff, lovely rooms and food to die for! Thank you to all at The Old Quay House for making my 60th Birthday one of the best.

Room tip: If your budget stretches get a decent view of the Estuary although the Penthouse Suite is not really suitable for the elderly.

The dining room was full - a good sign - but this did not impact on the service in any way. The salmon and John Dory starters were well cooked and the pork fillet main was very tender, served with good roasted sprouts. Cheesecake and cheese followed, and were equally good, as was the selection of wine at reasonable prices. Lovely relaxed setting.

Nice little boutique hotel in a great location. We stayed in Room 6, which had double doors that open right onto the river. Worth paying the extra for. Room itself was a tiny bit tired but understand they're due to refurb soon. Staff have got the right balance of being friendly but also leaving you to your own devices. Location in Fore St means you can step out straight to loads of pubs and restaurants. Free parking is provided but it is away from the hotel - but it's a pleasant 10min walk along the river between the two. Breakfast very good quality. Many SatNavs don't recognise the address (or think it's over the river) so type in "Esplanade, Fowey" if in doubt and you're then only a couple of streets away. If you get directed to the wrong side of the river (like us), don't worry, take the little car ferry across. It only takes a couple of minutes and it's fun.

Room tip: Room 6 - has the views

Thank you for taking the time to provide us with some valuable feedback. We apologise that you felt the room was slightly tired. The refurbishment will hopefully freshen the whole hotel up, including room 6. This refurbishment is scheduled to happen just before the festive period. It's an exciting time for us. We hope you will be able to return one day and witness the improvements and updates that have been made.

Kind regards,

I stayed in the hotel over the half term break with my son. The reviews were consistently good on Tripadvisor so we decided to book one night. We were travelling enroute from Penzance to Poole. The print out from the booking form warned us to be aware that sometimes the sat nab sends people to the wrong place and it tried to do the same to us. Thankfully because we had been warned we didn't make that mistake. Anyway the hotel itself was delightful. The staff incredibly helpful and our room was delightful. We had a side view of the estuary and it was perfect. The bed was enormous and comfortable. The little touches such as make up mirror on the dressing table in the room and the extra fresh milk in the hall fridge were just lovely. We dined in the restaurant and they staff tweaked the menu for my son and the food was heavenly. The breakfast was also gorgeous. The only slight issue was the car park was a five minute walk up a hill with narrow streets and we had lots of luggage. However we ended up taking the little mini bus which is free and it dropped us next to the car park. So problem solved and really that illustrates the uniqueness and charm of Fowey. I would highly recommend and we hope to return.

We stayed for 2 nights in a deluxe room. This was room 6 which has fabulous views from both of its full length windows.
We dined in the restaurant on both nights. On the first night the owner was also staying and he sent champagne to our table. The food was delicious , nothing was too much trouble for the staff - even making a few changes to the dishes to suit our palates. We asked about the possibility of seafood for the following night and the chef made us a 'Seafood Spectacular' which certainly was spectacular and also included champagne from the house.
Breakfast also provided plenty of choices from a menu of food cooked to order and also from the buffet.
The hotel was very clean, nicely furnished and the small touches such as quality toiletries in the bathrooms, umbrellas and raincoats were appreciated.
All the staff we encountered were friendly, helpful and pleasant.
The hotel is in a fabulous location in Fowey. We would certainly love to return.

Room tip: room 6 has fabulous estuary views from it's 2 full length windows.

Thank you for your review. We appreciate your kind comments and it's delightful to see that you enjoyed your time here. We aim to make every guests stay special and memorable so we are glad you enjoyed the complimentary champagne. We are aiming to make the seafood platter somewhat of a regular thing. Adding different types of fish and shell fish each time. We would love for you to come and try it again one day. See you soon
