Stayed for one night as part of a walking holiday. Hotel looks lovely from the outside but is dated inside especially in the accommodation. The receptionist on check-in very kindly upgraded me for free to an executive room so I wouldn't be troubled by noise from football watchers in the bar; much appreciated. The executive room looked a bit dated 1990's style but was comfortable and fairly clean with a good bathroom. Unfortunately the only window faced into the sun and in this heatwave, even with the curtains closed, the room was uncomfortably hot.

I didn't eat in the restaurant as there's a Waitrose a short walk away, so I stocked up with salad and munchies from there.

On the plus side, Sunday breakfast was very good and the service was excellent.

Sunday morning hotel staffing less good, not very switched on, confident or warm. Some staff training for the hospitality industry is needed.

And please invest in a refresh of the decor, air con etc.

The room was most disappointing, extremely tired, but to be fair it was clean. The shower was weak and in a narrow bath with a pesky shower curtain, and the toilet roll holder was coming off the wall from the wall plug. Gave me such a bad impression I couldn't be bothered to have breakfast there! The bed looked big, but it was 2 singles together and all a bit weird to be honest. The outside court yard for a beer was very nice, my room overlooked the courtyard and if I had not been so tired the chatter/laughter below would have been a problem. Hard to say I'd never return, as it is probably typical of the quality of a hotel/pub and in a handy location, but i certainly would begrudge the £125 for a room!

Tired rooms and very very noisy.

I was moved due to constant noise from the kitchen vents which was loud even with the window closed.

The second room had some kind of water damage in the ceiling and was on the main road. Due to the age of the building, the windows don't keep any noise out and the road seems to be costantly busy.

If you want a good night's sleep that may be a challenge.

The breakfast waitress is abrupt to say the least.

Quaint hotel but rooms are in a purpose built block at the rear. Rooms are clean, quiet, well appointed with TV (sky) and good free WiFi. Also a good size with a king size bed.
Only slight negative is the 'over bath' shower - but the mixer tap worked well.
Breakfast is in the bistro across the courtyard and is fine. Evening meals available in the bistro and the cosy bar. Didn't try either as there are plenty of other dining options in Wallingford village.
Good car parking.

We wanted something near tje river as was pouring with ran, money to spend as we are on holiday on boat....
And were told bookings only and shown the door.
I thought it was tough these days with restaurants and pubs?
Obviously not here, so went and spent our money elsewhere.
