We had the most wonderful stay in Uplands House! The house is stunning. The rooms are generous and comfortable. The garden is wonderful and romantic. The location is terrific, you can visit thousands of things in this wonderful area. But the true highlight is the host: Poppy is a remarkable personality with a great sense of humour, wisdom, warm heart and outstanding host qualities. You immediately feel welcome and you can feel how much Poppy enjoys to have the world as her guest. You feel more like a family friend than a paying guest. Definitely a place worth visiting! We will be back – thank you for everything, Poppy – I shall cook cherry jam following your recipe tonight!

We spent a night at Uplands House. We liked the room and the house and gardens are beautiful. Poppy took great care of us, even getting us started with croquet. The National Trust property at Upton House just across the road is well worth a visit.

We spent 3 delightful nights at Uplands House, a very convenient location for visiting the Cotswolds area. We ate in each evening and thoroughly enjoyed the excellent and varied cuisine and the overall hospitality provided by Poppy and Graham.

It was wonderful staying for a night in this very charming house. I just wished we could have stayed longer. Poppy and her husband Graham are such an interesting couple with so many experiences to share. Poppy is a wonderful cook and it was a joy to have a meal with her and some of the other guests who were staying there that night. I do wish this lady would share her recipes. We had duck, wonderfully prepared in a plum sauce - the plums from Poppys garden of course. If you stay there you must sample some of the many varieties of jams... also made by Poppy, with a little help from her granddaughter Darcy.

We found the Uplands by chance on TripAdvisor after finding every other hotel or B&B in the Cotswolds was full because of a combination of big events in the region. What an amazing stroke of luck! This is one of the most charming B&B's that we've stayed at in Great Britain with two of the most entertaining and interesting hosts, Poppy and Graham. The Uplands is a lovely old house built from golden Cotswold stone and with beautiful gardens. There was even a croquet course set up on the lawn. We were two couples and we had the largest (the Four Poster) and the smallest (the Tulip) rooms in the house. The Four Poster was indeed a grand room, but the couple staying in the smaller Tulip room were just as happy with their choice. Both rooms were beautifully decorated and so comfortable! Poppy greeted us warmly and offered us snacks and wine in the drawing room before dinner. (She also provides a lovely tea, but we arrived too late. We were very sorry that we had to miss this.) In addition to providing a perfectly cooked breakfast (complete with Poppy's homemade jams), upon request (and for additional charge) Poppy will prepare an elegant dinner. Excellent wine choices are available. The evening we dined there, Poppy and Graham joined the four of us at dinner along with two other guests and we had a wonderful dinner party with great conversation. Poppy and Graham are two fascinating people with amazing life stories. I highly recommend the dinner option for the company as well as the food and ambience. The Uplands House is an experience not to be missed.

Room Tip: The Four Poster room is a grand experience but priciest. The Tulip is smallest but super charming & a great bargain.
