We had a fantastic time at The Star at Taddington. It was even better than the photographs, had everything we needed and more, all the extra touches like blankets made it feel so homely. We were pleased to find lots of ice too in the freezer - that would have been hard to travel with or make in time for our first g & t!
The sunken dining area is just so special, we hung fairy lights around making it very atmospheric each evening. The view beyond the garden to the lambs in the field was lovely. The garden was just about big enough for our group of lively 10 year olds. The children had a great time sharing rooms with their cousins, loving the bunk beds and having their own en-suits. All the bedrooms were gorgeous. We had fun with the billiards table, enjoyed long walks from the village, a long bike ride and two trips to the award winning pub recommended by Peak Venues, The Royal Oak, only a short drive away.
We booked a caterer - Scoff, for our Saturday evening and the food was superb.
All in all it was a fantastic venue for our party of 17, ranging from 8yrs to 60 something's!
I think we would all love to come again, although I cannot imagine we could be so lucky with the weather again as we had wall to wall sun which in early April had us eating our breakfasts each day in the garden. Divine.
Excellent accommodation which provided plenty of room for our party of 18 to socialise in. A short drive from Buxton, the location is perfect for those wanting to appreciate the beauty of the Peak District whilst being close to a town for restaurants/pubs etc. The owners were great to deal with and, whilst being very accommodating, allowed us the privacy to enjoy our weekend without interference which cannot be said of other large accommodations we have stayed in. Will definitely stay here again.
The Star at Taddington is a wonderful country retreat, I booked it as a surprise for my Wife's birthday and it is safe to say she loved it. The venue itself is amazing, it looks beautiful, has so much space, caters so well for large parties and has Bar Billiards!!! The location is ideal, with country walks on your doorstep and a couple of pubs in the village. We had caterers in to cook one evening (who were brilliant) and the kitchen/dining area allows for a great atmosphere for a great Dinner Party! All in all we had a wonderful weekend and would certainly go back!
We could not recommend The Star more highly. There were 10 of us, ages from 17 to 87 and it was amazing. Every little detail has been well thought out and the owner was so helpful - he even arranged a wheel chair for my mother in law! The only slight issue we had was the steepness of the stairs proved a challenge for the older members of our group. We will definitely return.
An amazing break with the extended family. Was only possible due to Peak Venues that found the ideal property and location for a group of nearly 30 people. The property was amazing and the owner who lived a stone throw away was awesome. He was around when needed but otherwise we felt very secluded. Locals were really hospitable e.g on the day of our arrival while we were unloading the grocery delivery, a local farmer offered for the kids to feed his chickens, he also gave us a big basket full of eggs. I would Highly recommend both Peak Venues and Star Cottage.
