As you can see from the pictures this is their slogan not mine but fairly sums up our brief experience.
We turned up on a Wednesday evening on a strong recommendation to be told they were full ... the restaurant was barely half full and the bar area almost empty but were told they could still not manage any food. On leaving 20 mins later after a drink
we see a poster in the porch area offering fish and chips to take away from 6-8 and as we arrived at 7.20pm surely the least we could have been offered was to eat that in the bar area? That would been an easy polite solution but sadly it seems some places are just lazy and disinterested in offering a service...and they certainly won’t be getting ours again.

Neil372,

How very dare you criticise our business!
It is people like you, with obviously no time in the hospitality trade, that give TripAdvisor a really bad name.
If it was such a strong recommendation to come here, why on earth did you not book a table?
To be called LAZY!!!! I have never, ever been called Lazy. The team here at The Osborne works exceptionally hard to please as many customers as possible and as you can see from previous reviews, we achieve this more times than not.
I am so happy that we will not be getting your business again, and please be assured, you are the very first customers that I have ever said this to.
I hope that everyone who reads your review and hopefully my response, will treat it with the general contempt that is deserves.

We went there for "lunch with a view" and were not disappointed. On a nice warm sunny day ( yes, we do get those in Scotland!) we sat on the terrace with a view over the Clyde.
Service was nice and friendly, not at all rushed, and the food was freshly prepared and well cooked. Highly recommended 5*

Last year we took a group of eight of us for a birthday dinner and I had the crab pakora to start, the 'claws' were just batter with a strange 'burnt fat' taste and the pink cellophane of the crab was present, so I had peel that away. I had the roast dinner and again the potatoes had a terribly bitter taste of cooking fat and they were solid, another guest felt the same. I mentioned it to the waitress as we had left them uneaten and she apologies (nothing offered in lieu).
We gave it another try a few months later with 2 more friends, my friends enjoyed their wild boar and I had fish and chips, again, this god awful after taste of fat. By this point I said I was never going back, but to be fair, so many people do rave about it that I thought it must be me!
We tried for a 3rd time in January, the vegetable soup was very watery in my opinion and I ordered fish and chips again and suddenly half way through that oily taste was there again and I couldn’t finish it, my husband had the scampi and could taste it also but not as bad as my fish, I actually felt quite nauseous, I can’t put my finger on the taste but it was bitter, left an aftertaste, really strange.
The hosts were lovely, I do get quite anxious when something isn’t right so didn’t complain, it is a busy restaurant but that cooking fat needs to be addressed before I went back.

The steak was absolutely amazing, an absolute 10/10, the staff were friendly and the drinks were really nice too. For us there were a couple of things that really knocked it down to about a 6/10. Everything that came out of the fryer (Calimari, onion rings, chicken) tasted exactly the same, like an overwhelming bitter-oily taste, with respect the burger was really bitter too. Disappointing for the price.

My wife and I had another excellent meal in the 'Osbourne' last night, the crab tower starter was excellent and the steak with huge garlic prawns was fantastic, as were the beef medallions. Get out there and treat yourself!
