For our second visit this year to the Argyle....We arrived a day late for our bookings as Mother fell ill the night before arrival (she's 90). I kept hotel informed best I could and Found the staff most helpfull in this situation... As Said arrived 24hours late to at least get some benifit of what was booked .........On arrival when booking in we took the option offered to extend our booking to readjust our lost 24 hrs of visit..........We were looking forward to dinner based on our previous visit but allas no avaiable tables in the bar restaurant..... So opted to visit the attached Italian and Spannish Tapas bar/diner (Rio's ? )

However a glitch in the kitchen delayed our order somewhat but things happen...... The customer service kicked in.... The (General) manager kept us informed and although it was a noticable delay complimentary refills were greatly received by those who wished and food arrived and very much enjoyed soon after.......... If anything the restaurant was a little on the cool chilly side of things (Ok for me but not just so for Mother).......

We did make sure to book a table for dinner on second evening in the bar/restaurant in the Argyle and as previous visit the food was very much enjoyed and all staff encountered..... including breakfast and room staff were all very forthcoming and attentive to our visit

Although Weather was inclement for the duration it wasn't unexpected this time of year and certainly didn't put a dampener So to speak on our few days visit here again

We are all looking forward to our next visit Doon the Wat 'er

We stayed here for one night in a family room which was more than big enough to accommodate our double bed and two singles. Whilst the en suite bathroom was a bit dated and tired you really couldn’t fault the value for money. Plenty of tea/coffee facilities and a great view from our window. We decided we would eat in the bar at the hotel that night and as there were 9 in our party they reserved a table in the restaurant for us which was then reset for again for us for breakfast. The evening food was really good and the bar menu extensive and would definitely recommend the curries. Again breakfast was great and was included in the price. The staff were really helpful and friendly and we would definitely stay here again.

Dear LindsayMARV4,

Thank you so much for taking the time to post your review of the SGE Argyll Hotel on TripAdvisor.

I am happy to learn that you found your family room to be spacious and value for money, and you're right, the view from the room onto the Firth of Clyde is stunning. I shall try and resist the pressure to charge extra for this!

I really appreciate your thoughts about the en suite aand your dining experience. Now that Dunoon is entering its quiet season we can carry out some light refurbishments throughout the hotel and we will certainly freshen up this en suite.with a more contemporary décor. We take pride in serving good quality food and it is our aim to offer good value for money so I am assured from your review that we are achieved our aim.

Finally, on behalf of the whole team, I thank you for choosing to stay with us and we do look forward to hosting you once again when you next visit in Dunoon.

Yours sincerely

Came here for a meal and pleased to see a Gaelic menu for the Mod. A good range of the normal bar meal favourites. A tasty gammon steak and a good portion. Great views of the Firth of Forth. The staff were friendly and efficient. A popular and well located hotel with a plush interior and well maintained.

Room tip: One with a view of the Firth of Forth
