We arrived at the hotel having driven from Bristol to find we couldn't get my husband's wheelchair into either of the two "accessible" rooms (one was the designated accessible room) the latter room access requires getting up a 4 inch kerb (no dropped access available unusual in my experience for a golf establishment) across a short pavement area and then another 4 inch step into the room doorway. The pavement area is not quite wide enough to turn/manoeuvre a wheelchair 90 degrees and a ramp not being able to straddle the step up from the parking level to the step into the room. Our own specialist suitcase ramp would not have coped with this either. The bed in the disabled room is a double being two divans braced together horizontally with no clearance for a hoist underneath. You would need 6 elephant feet to raise the bed and we only had 4 with us! The family room has a 4 inch step which could be ramped but then has a 90 degree narrow dog leg entrance into the room which you cannot physically turn the wheelchair into either a manual or, as we have, an electric chair. The young lady Sarah on reception was so sorry that we had been let us down and was very helpful in trying to get us alternative accommodation. Sarah couldn't have done anything more other than with a magic wand. She also called us the following morning to see if we had got on alright at the other hotel we had managed to find) which fortunately we had. Also disappointing that the owner when making the booking in December was telling us that guests ate at the pub next door but had not told us it had been closed since last July for renovation work!! My husband who had been looking forward to a pint and a meal there, as he had been to the pub on a number of occasions in the past, was very disappointed. Nothing wrong with the location and the rooms seemed to be quite good from what we saw just not what we required. So very disappointed that the access facilities were not suitable even when the management had been advised that we had a large electric wheelchair and that we would be bringing our own hoist with us. Being creative comes naturally now but physical barriers are sometimes insurmountable and to be also told that the pub was closed was the final blow although apparently there is a good Italian restaurant that delivers! I am sure this hotel would be a lovely venue and wouldn't have any qualms staying there on a different trip but sadly just not suitable on this occasion. Hopefully this will be helpful for anyone else who needs a specific level of accessibility as even the public rooms have small steps for access.

Room tip: Not readily wheelchair accessible

My second stay this year and I can honestly say I wouldn’t stay anywhere else when visiting in the future. Rooms are clean and spacious, staff are friendly. There is a easy access to taxi services. Couldn’t have asked for more.

To be honest I wasn’t expecting great things for this little guest house but it was a great little place and the young lady on reception was fantastic and she even served up a great breakfast. I left here pleasantly surprised and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it

Stayed here last weekend (16th Sept) in two twin rooms for a golf weekend .Cant fault the room, service, breakfast and golf course but the Pub next door was closed so no food was on offer. The Motel needs to start to offer sandwiches or burger chips etc at lunch time and also have a list of nearby pubs that can offer dinner and a taxi contact to get to the pubs. Had to do a bit of google searching and to travel 6 miles to get a meal at night which if we had known this would have helped us research the area before travelling.
Golf course excellent 9 holes for beginners.

We stayed here for 1 night whilst attending a friends birthday party nearby.
The room was generally very clean, however were disappointed to find a bag of rubbish in the cupboard, the base of the kettle was filthy, and although not used the bath had not been cleaned/rinsed properly.
The breakfast was superb and staff were helpful and attentive. Overall room could do with some updating but would definetley here again if in the area.
