An interesting museum that contains Viking ships and artefacts from the Viking age. It's a bit out of town but can be reached easily by boat or bus. Close by to 2 or 3 other museums which are a short walk and can be done at the same time. Good view of Oslo also

Fascinating to see the ship close hand. It tells a story on how it was long ago and what might have happened.

The museum is based around vikingships. You can easily walk around the ships and read about the vikinghistory.
The videoexhibit in the main hall was a little disaponting.

We visited during April so there we less crowds than I assume there are during the summer. The museum is a lot smaller than I expected, but the quality of the exhibits makes up for it. The ships themselves are very impressive and the information provided is interesting. There are also small look-out spots that you can climb to see the ships from up above. The third ship, which is in pieces, is in a side room that displays a short film in a cartoon/bayeux tapestry style that tells the story of the ship. While I wouldn't say you'd spend a long time here, it's most definitely worth a visit.
