We spent 4 nights at the hotel in March. We opted for a standard room (427) as we were on a budget; the room size was good, with small fridge (free bottle of water each day) and a safe. Fairly new décor and pleasant modern bathroom.
Positives:
- Location: central hotel, literally a stone's throw away from cathedral and pedestrian shopping area. We walked everywhere, only used the metro to go Schönbrunn Palace. Plenty of restaurants, safe to walk back at night.
- Customer Service: the reception staff was prompt to listen to all my requests re room allocation (I can be very picky regarding traffic noise, nearby elevators, vending machines, etc...). They helped us with taxis, international adaptors and somehow managed to get us different pillows as the ones we had were a little bit too bulky. They were all very polite, friendly and extremely helpful; special mention to the young man who manned reception at night (Armin I believe, but my spelling could be wrong). We booked through TripAdvisor and initially we were not applied the discounted price but the hotel staff rectified this in no time without any issue.
- Breakfast: plenty and varied; cooked (we loved the sausages and the buttery scrambled eggs), continental, cakes, fresh bread, selections of fruit, juices, and plenty more. We enjoyed it so much that it kept us going until late afternoon without the need for lunch. Perhaps the choice of cakes can be more variable, but it was not a problem for our short stay.
- The restaurant is open until 10pm which meant on the day of our arrival we didn't have to struggle for dinner.
- The complimentary walking tour on Saturday morning did add value to our stay.
Minor comments:
- the corridor leading to the room and the room itself felt they could do with brighter lights. Some of the corners in the closet were slightly dusty but all in all we were happy with the room, we will definitely be back.
