We spent 4 nights at the hotel in March. We opted for a standard room (427) as we were on a budget; the room size was good, with small fridge (free bottle of water each day) and a safe. Fairly new décor and pleasant modern bathroom.

Positives:

- Location: central hotel, literally a stone's throw away from cathedral and pedestrian shopping area. We walked everywhere, only used the metro to go Schönbrunn Palace. Plenty of restaurants, safe to walk back at night.

- Customer Service: the reception staff was prompt to listen to all my requests re room allocation (I can be very picky regarding traffic noise, nearby elevators, vending machines, etc...). They helped us with taxis, international adaptors and somehow managed to get us different pillows as the ones we had were a little bit too bulky. They were all very polite, friendly and extremely helpful; special mention to the young man who manned reception at night (Armin I believe, but my spelling could be wrong). We booked through TripAdvisor and initially we were not applied the discounted price but the hotel staff rectified this in no time without any issue.

- Breakfast: plenty and varied; cooked (we loved the sausages and the buttery scrambled eggs), continental, cakes, fresh bread, selections of fruit, juices, and plenty more. We enjoyed it so much that it kept us going until late afternoon without the need for lunch. Perhaps the choice of cakes can be more variable, but it was not a problem for our short stay.

- The restaurant is open until 10pm which meant on the day of our arrival we didn't have to struggle for dinner.

- The complimentary walking tour on Saturday morning did add value to our stay.

Minor comments:

- the corridor leading to the room and the room itself felt they could do with brighter lights. Some of the corners in the closet were slightly dusty but all in all we were happy with the room, we will definitely be back.

This is a lovely smart boutique hotel in an excellent location for the town centre and all transport. We were in the premium room at the end of the second floor which was spotlessly clean and beautiful with all the great amenaties. The buffet breakfast was fine and we were looked after by excellent staff especially "Aigin" who made our toast and jam, also the best and beautiful big cup of coffee latte each morning. We can recommend this hotel for a short or long break in Vienna.

Stayed here in February as a couple. The hotel has a good location being only 5 minute walk from the Morzinplatz bus stop which is where both the airport bus and hop on hop off buses stop. Also only 10 minute walk to St Stephens Cathedral and plenty of good restaurants.

The staff at the hotel weren’t rude but not particularly welcoming and not very informative. We weren’t given any information, e.g. we didn’t know that the contents of the mini bar in the privilege room were complimentary until the 2nd day (when we asked as couldn’t see a price list) and we didn’t know that the breakfast was an additional cost and nowhere did it say that it was 20€ a person.

Breakfast was OK but not worth the cost, we wouldn’t have had it if we had known it was costing us 20€. Just one member of staff working so plates weren’t cleared so not many tables clear to sit at. The selection was quite good e.g pastries, breads, juices and some hot choices but more in line with what we have had free at hotels in the past rather than an additional cost.

The hotel decor etc is good. We had a privilege room which was modern and clean with lots of space saving storage. Bathroom was large with a lovely walk in shower, robes, slippers and nice toiletries. Only slight issue is there was a sliding door which didn’t shut completely and no lock so that may be an issue if you want privacy. There is a nespresso machine and, as mentioned above, the contents of the mini bar are included.

Overall, it was an OK stay and I would recommend the hotel if you get a good price.

Hotel is very conveniently located being just 0.4km away from the city centre. Very easy to walk to a lot of the tourist attractions. We travelled In February which is rather a cold month and in commenting that our room was a bit cold may be rather harsh. Our friends room was warmer however. We turned the dial up as far as it would go but it made no difference. We did report it to the desk explaining the window in the bathroom wouldn't fully close which was cured, but the room heating still didn't work efficiently. Rooms were very roomy and bed was comfortable. In good location if like us we prefer not to breakfast at the hotel. Lots of coffe bars in the immediate vicinity. Likewise a choice of pubs right on the doorstep. We were surprised to find that Vienna does not have a no smoking policy across the board until May, but the hotel was a voluntary no smoking hotel. All in all a comfortable stay with helpful staff, just a shame the room wasn't a little warmer.

Dear Mercure guest,

we would like to thank you for your review regarding your time in Vienna on tripadvisor.
We regret, that the temperature in your room was not warm and comfortable enough due to the incredible cold days in february.
We do apologize if we obviously could not fix the problem in your bathroom immediately, and that my colleagues did not offer you to change the room!
It`s great to hear that you could enjoy our excellent location right in the historical heart of vienna.
There is a Non Smoking policy in Austria since many years, but it`s depending on the size of the location and some other standard specifications.

Thank you again for your kind words and we are already looking forward to welcoming you in our hotel!

Warm regards from Vienna

This is a really affordable hotel in the heart of Vienna conveniently located to everything that is of interest in this city. The rooms were recently renovated. The staff is kind. The breakfast was a little disappointing (not enough local offerings) but dinner at the bistro was good. As an Accor Gold member, I did not get any form of attention except a drink's voucher which was also disappointing but I did enjoy my stay very much and would return without hesitation.
