“A great house, village and weather.”
Reviewed 20 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

The situation of this house is excellent; close to all the village amenities but still quiet and private. We travelled around the area (Bergerac and Bordeaux), but we all enjoyed the house and pool, so spent a lot of time there. We didn't find a good weekday market, but the one at Ste Foy la Grande on a Saturday is well worth a visit. Locals and visitors get together to have dinner at the market on a Friday evening, something we hadn't come across before. It is very popular, so get there before 7pm! We were struck by how friendly the village is (and the boulangerie pastries are delicious). With kids, we would recommend visiting the lake which is a couple of miles away. With adults, there are vineyards every way you turn. The landlords were very helpful and hospitable. We needed to rent a wheelchair while we were there and the landlord arranged it all for us. Great holiday!

“A roomy, charming and well-equipped property, perfect for a relaxing stay”

This TARDIS-like property was originally three houses and its frontage is on quiet side street in the small bastide of Villefranche de Lonchat. Our party comprised two families with four children from 12 to 18 and the house provided more than enough room for people to spread out and have their own space when they needed it. The decor is semi-rustic and characterful, with owner Kim's experience in the antique business very evident in the wealth of curios throughout. The property is well-maintained and boasts all mod cons including good WiFi. The garden and substantial pool at the back of the property is lovely and secluded. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of St Emilion is just under 14 miles away and the verdant surrounding counrtyside is full of vineyards. The Hotel du Commerce a very short stroll away offers a good value lunch menu. The property's owners Kim and Russ are very genial and discretely on hand should you need them.
