My daughter and I felt so welcome at Blanc Boutique. Cecilia called us on arrival at Luqa airport to make sure we had arrived safely and was there, with her warm smile, to greet us very late at night. The personal touch was so pleasant - even arranging for our breakfast favourites at short notice! Highly recommended.

Room Tip: We occupied a room on the first floor with a terrace, which was extremely quiet.

We had such a lovely stay at this hotel in Sliema. Perfect spot close to everything. The rooms were beyond beautiful and the staff were incredibly helpful, letting us stay a little longer as we had a late flight. The coffee and breakfast was lovely too. By far the best place we have stayed in our many trips to Sliema. Will definitely be back. Thanks for a lovely stay

This is by far the worst experience of my life. This is a BB at the price of a 5 star hotel. Codes to get in... Door not working... They do not clean your room... Belongs to Italians that do not speak English... Breakfast stops at 9.30... Well... This is the first time that I'm giving rating 1... Avoid this hotel... I would have been better of at a refugees camp!!

Sorry for the long rant but this needs to be said, let me set to record straight with this hotel, it's not a hotel. It's an over priced B&B at £150 per night.

The positives start and end with the interior design. When we arrived we were greeted by a maid that could not speak a word of English, only Italian. No formal check in, the maid calls some Italian lady manager who gives me the passcode to the front door and informs me I am too early for the 3pm check-in even though we arrived at 2:30, the maid was nice and said the room would be ready in 10mins.

Two days into a 5 night stay the manager shows her face for the first time and arrives at our room door to inform us breakfast finishes at 10am and that she needs our passports to photocopy. After I told her nobody informed us of the breakfast cut off she just shrugged. Now with the negatives: (1) mattress in our balcony suite was a rock hard memory foam, wife couldn't sleep on it she had to sleep on the duvet, even I found it painful and i prefer medium/firm; (2) super loud AC fan even on the lowest setting, so cannot leave it on at night; (3) door handle on shower door not attached, two holes in the glass where it should have been, so stick your finger through the hole to slide it open (4) breakfast was a joke, one slice of cake, one egg and a glass of juice, same thing every day. Got tea on the first day then never got it again, when questioned (using Google translate) the maid was bemused as to what we were requesting; (5) no hair conditioner, we had to hunt down a cosmetics shop; (6) bed only made of you left the hotel at a certain time, leave after noon and they don't bother.

Now for the best bit and the reason I gave 1 star rating, as we checked out today the manager disappeared but left a post it note for the maid to hand me whereby she stated check out is at 11am and that she wanted me to pay €50 for five breakfasts (€10 Euro per day) on my balcony table. This would have been absurd for any guest after our experience, but certainly shocking when (I) we booked a balcony suite at extra cost, the main dining area on the ground floor only seats 6 people, it's a squeeze to accommodate the occupants of 8 rooms for breakfast; (2) we only had breakfast four mornings, (3) we carried out breakfast to our room, (4) we made our own tea on the last morning and (5) we were never told of the surcharge. When the maid hands me the manager on the phone and I proceed to explain why I'm not entertaining this breakfast tax, the manager slams the phone down on me mid conversation. This was the perfect ending to some this joke hotel up, do yourself a favour and book somewhere else.

FYI the manager informed me she is an architect when I complemented her on the decor. She should stick to her day job as a career in hospitality is beyond her skill set.

We let ourselves in after calling a number on a post-it (having arrived early on a Friday evening). We waited over 40 minutes for a staff member to arrive (they claimed we'd waited for 10) who was unfriendly, dismissive and rude. They wanted to photograph our passports as their computer didn't work, which seemed pretty unsound too (we obviously declined). We were given no willing information about the local area or the amenities at the hotel. It was a very uncomfortable and slightly upsetting experience given that we had already paid and didn't want any further disruption to the last night of our trip. On balance, the breakfast/cleaning staff were pleasant though. The decor is nice, if you like Zara home.
