“A delightful return.”

A dream of a holiday house, in a wonderful mediaeval walled town, so different from the other busy coastal resorts on Malta. The house's steep spiral staircase, the low-ceilinged shower and the church clock chimes are probably not for everyone, but the spacious and well-equipped rental with the kindest hostess far overweighed these quirky aspects for us. The taxi from the airport was organised for us, the fridge was stocked for the first evening, and nothing was too much trouble. We watched the world and his neighbour go by from our balcony onto the town square, slipped down to the itinerant market vendors most mornings and felt almost as if we belonged there. We explored the whole island using the excellent bus system, which is ridiculously cheap, with both tourist and regular buses stopping just outside the town wall, a mere 5 minutes walk from the house. We enjoyed the many restaurants and were never disappointed, and generally had an extremely relaxing holiday in a beautiful atmospheric town.

“A perfect location”
Reviewed 12 June 2016 for a stay in June 2016

I booked this for my son and his fiancée who were enchanted with it. My wife and I stayed around the corner in the other property managed by Joanna and Joseph, who also live in the main square of Mdina. The house has great character and all that you require whether self-catering or not.
Mdina has all the cafes and restaurants you would want, fairly busy in daytime but quiet in the evening. For a change, Rabat is a 10 minute stroll and has useful little shops and other places of interest. There is a good bus service to Valetta and elsewhere.
We found parking the hire car at the back of Mdina very convenient - down through a small tunnel and follow the road round, then walk through another gate of the city.
We did not meet Andrea, who was away, but Joanna and Joseph were very welcoming and helpful. For a quieter stay in Malta (apart for some church bells) I would recommend this accommodation.

“Fantastic location”
Reviewed 16 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

My wife & I stayed for a week - our first trip to Malta. And what a location - overlooking the cathedral in the 'Silent City'. Not so silent really - church bells every 15 mins, tourists most of the day, horse drawn carriages. But it all added to the wonderful atmosphere. And wonderful hosts - Joanna & Josef who lived next door. A lovely welcome from Joanna when we trundled in with our cases - and a very welcome lunch waited for us.
The apartment had everything we needed and was spotlessly clean. The only negative was the spiral staircase which had to be negotiated to get to the downstairs facilities.
Mdina in the evening is wondrous with loads of restaurants tucked away within the walls, or a short walk outside to Rabat with even more choices of places to visit.

“Wow factor!”
Reviewed 8 May 2016 for a stay in April 2016

We have stayed at Agatinas with friends twice in the last year but this time coming on our own for the Medieval re enactment we decided to try this charming apt. It was the perfect choice, the Debono family are friendly, gracious and helpful hosts and we love every minute of the time spent in M'dina.
The apartment is overlooking the main square, it is quirky and unusual and the decor and amenities are everything you could wish for! As you come in there is the dining area leading to the kitchen and shower/wet room and toilet, back in the dining area is a spiral staircase leading up to a lovely comfortable lounge nicely furnished. Then into the bedroom.
Running across the lounge and bedroom there is a balcony that overlooks the square, a real sun trap! We sat and had our breakfast there each morning listening to the sound of the horses hooves as they clatter over the cobblestones below! The view of the cathedral as you open your eyes in the morning is glorious. A truly magical place to stay and very unique.
M'dina itself is a lovely old walled city, it has museums, wonderful views and churches to explore, and great restaurants and bars , we have never had a bad meal! Everyone is so friendly!
Rabat just outside the city walls is full of history, a must to see are the catacombs, wander the streets and find great restaurants in tiny backstreets ! Buses from Rabat go all over the Island, they are clean and comfortable and great to travel on! Cheap too!! All in all M'dina is a great place to head for and you won't find a better place to stay! 3 times in one year and back to stay in October! We love it!

“What a gem”
Reviewed 29 April 2016 for a stay in March 2016

After spending a week at Agatina’s, my husband and I decided to enjoy a few days in this other property owned by the Debono Family. We only spent 4 days here but I believe it is sufficient to leave a glowing review.

The location of this property is genuinely unrivalled as it enjoys unobstructed views of the Cathedral of Malta. It was a delight to wake up and view this magnificent piece of architecture. The owners have also provided a table on the balcony which we used to use to enjoy our breakfast on.

The rest of the apartment is also delightfully furnished and we particularly enjoyed the lounge/living room area on the 1st floor. This room also enjoys magnificent views of St. Paul’s Square. The presence of a washing machine in the kitchen was also very convenient and it enabled us to catch up on some much needed laundry.

The owners - the Debono family - live next door to the property and their proximity is extremely useful. As always, they were ready to help whenever we needed anything. A temporary issue with the internet was immediately resolved once we brought it to the hosts’ attention. We also particularly appreciated the food and drinks they had prepared for us upon our check-in.

To anyone considering renting this property, I wouldn’t hesitate. We loved our time here and hope to return in the near future.
