This Trullo is fairly newly built and is clean, neat and spacious. The owner is a very accommodating and helpful guy and met us at the Trullo on arrival and departure. The pool is a particularly nice, sizeable one and is probably the key feature for summer visitors particularly. The Trullo is within its own high, secure wall and the standard of the patio and paving around the pool is excellent. We had a number of excellent barbecues and there was more than enough room for four of us to spread out on the patio (which has part-shade). There's also a separate table with parasol outside.
I arranged with a car hire firm on-island, recommended by the owner, to be met (at midnight) at the airport and transferred by them across the ferry and to the Trullo where a car was ready for us. This worked very well and was as cheap in total (return) as hiring a car from the airport (although the car was arguably not quite as good/ new - but that's almost an advantage with Gozo's roads!) and was an enormous help to us.
There is a superb traditional bakery in Xewkija (don't even think of buying bread anywhere else) and three very good local, small supermarkets. Just 5 minutes walk away there's a great little roadside bar that does take out pizza and some other dishes too. There's also a new Lidl only 5-10 minutes drive away. Xewkija is a very 'local', normal, 'honest' village, close to Victoria. Although not the most obvious location for a Villa, it is a great village and the Rotunda church is an essential visit (the Trullo owner is writing a book about the village and is an expert on the Rotunda).
The air-con at the Trullo is very affordable (€1 and €2 coins by meter in the kitchen) and the wifi is good via an extender in the kitchen - it disconnected a couple of times but was easily rebooted at the rooter in the subterranean garage.
There is a likelihood of future development on the green land immediately adjacent to the Trullo in coming months and years. The high was around the Trullonis likely to mean that this shouldn't inconvenience guests, but I suggest you ring or email the owner to check the situation before booking - he is a really helpful guy.
I strongly recommend this villa.
