Quite a nice guesthouse although the arrangements for half board were less than satisfactory. They need to sort out their arrangement with the local restaurant in Citerna which charged a small fortune for the wine:ostensibly the meal was 'on the house'

This was another one-night stop on a long distance walk (the GEA). We really liked the location, just outside the village but a short and beautiful walk up the hill to the Sanctuary. We were well looked after and had an excellent dinner featuring the local mushrooms and truffles; the dessert was delicious and beautifully presented.

We would never have known about Chiusi della verna had we not had friends who had decided to live here. It is a haven of peace and beauty...a monastery sitting on top of a huge lump of rock, surrounded by trees and hills. There are lovely walks in all directions, and this excellent inn, which has a first class chef, with his wife and daughter as righthand women ! The bedrooms are comfortable but basic....with a very small shower room and tons of hot water. You can walk out the door and up through the trees to the sanctuary, or into the main town. It is one of the best holidays we have ever had,,,and one of the best restaurants ! Plus very inexpensive...what more can you ask for !

Room Tip: Ask for the topfloor room on the corner ?9. it is slightly bigger with views on 2 sides

The best thing about this hotel is its situation, a short, steep walk from the beautiful, atmospheric sanctuary of St Francesco at La Verna. The family run a clean and tidy hotel with tiny bathrooms. Initially Magda and Danielle seemed to dislike us (maybe they were having a busy day) but they eventually warmed to us after we tried to engage them in conversation. Worth noting that pizza is no longer on the menu but it seems their restaurant is highly regarded none the less. As vegetarians we had to look elsewhere.

My twelve days at this wonderful hotel will be with me forever. I came to write, to converse with colleagues and to be refreshed. But I could not have expected the care, attention and good humor of Danielle, his wife Magda and their daughter Andrea. The food was lovingly prepared -- even the simplest dessert was artfully done. My room was comfortable and clean. But more. the atmosphere was so delightful! Don't miss the pizza and karaoke on Friday night! This family-run hotel and restaurant is a gem nestled on the side of the mountain.
