The long hike prepared you before the big plunge into the volcano. It was ominous, other worldly, exciting, and a bit haunting in a very good way. All of the staff were excellent at what they did. Highly recommend!

Visiting this unique location is one those things you may only do once in your life, and for me it was absolutely phenomenal. You cannot imagine what it is like priory to going there. The tour starts at the entrance of the park where the volcano lies. You'll get there by car - usually people are divided into small groups of 10 people, and meet an experienced guide that will give you rain coats while gathering the group with some hot beverages prepared, whilst waiting starting off the walking path. Once everyone's gathered and ready to set off, the guide walks the group (no more than 40 minutes on a very easy trail) to a base camp nearby the entrance of the volcano. Once arriving there, everyone is briefed on safety issues and prepared with their gear on to go inside the volcano. After about 20 minutes of preparation, the group is taken to the entrance of the volcano (walk like 5-7 minutes) to wait to enter on an industrial elevator which will descend to the ground floor of the volcano (it only takes 6 minutes to go down, and it is smooth as ever). While going down, a specialist will be there to tell the group what to expect when arriving at the ground floor of the volcano, and will answer some questions regarding the different rock formations along the way down. So, if you're a geographer, or a biologist, or a scientist of any kind, you should definitely visit this place - it's magnificent, and amazing for all the things you can learn in this tour. When the elevator arrives at the bottom of the volcano, the group is received by an experienced guide that will tell you everything about the volcano itself, what can be done down there (walk around, do's and don'ts), and how to interpret what is seen. In result: the rocks, the minerals, and the history of the volcano, is absolutely incredible! Unbelievable experience for sure! Don't forget to take your cameras and action cameras too! Just do not have enough words to describe it! And I bet it's the only place like this in the world - nothing compared to a lava cave (please be aware that this is magma chamber, not a lava cave or a lava chamber...!). It's worth every penny!!
