Bring a picnic... so after the walk you can sit quietly and continue to absorb the beautiful surroundings and be entertained by the chooks, ducks and swans. (They pose for photos!) It's a beautiful reserve, the walk is enjoyable and the water is cristal blue and shows various tones and shades by reflection. It was magical to see the puna-a-Hangarua (the head spring). Clear water comes out of it from the underground aquifer and travels down into the lake Rotorua. Isn't it amazing? But unfortunately the entry fees are leaving a bad taste in the mouth, we don't understand the reason why people are charged to see the nature, probably the management is using it as source of income. Next to this beautiful reserve you can see a golf club which are connected even no transition in between. Definitely it ruins the romance that the nature offers.
