We arrived on Friday evening for a two night weekend break with friends.
The boiler was not working, so the prospect of spending weekend with no heating and no hot water was not too appealing…by the way there was no toilet paper anywhere in the apartment and no possibility to get any on Friday night in the middle of nowhere – luckily a friendly housekeeper for another flat gave us a half of a roll to share – thank you :o)..no toiletries either …:o(
We were offered another apartment for one night, which was much smaller, very messy [as it was not cleaned from the previous occupants, bedding not changed, dirty towels etc] – which we obviously declined.
Eventually a plumber arrived that evening and luckily managed to replace the boiler pump, so we had some hot water and heat for the next couple of hours…However the boiler ‘went down’ overnight leaving us very, very cold :o(
Luckily one of our party knew what to do and managed to top up the water pressure in the boiler…however it went down again and again and again.
We contacted the owner who stated that the power was down and this was the reason for the lack of hot water and heat…not true to say the least, as the power went down once overnight during the storm, however the boiler went down 3 or 4 times!
We called the Luxury Coastal office in Exeter who apologised for all the inconvenience and offered to pay for our meal at the Bear and Blacksmith in Chillington [by the way and what an AWSOME pub with great food!!] We accepted the offer and on return back home posted the receipt for our meal via recorded delivery… Guess what….no reply and no refund…very disappointed to say the least.
Problems – boiler not functioning as required, extractor fan not working, no toilet paper, no toiletries, very low, uncomfortable lounge sitting [ok for youngsters but not for us!], lots of scuff marks on the walls, very dirty upstairs carpet. The whole place needs updating …P.S. still waiting for our refund!
