Owner description: Copenhagen's Nyhaven, or "New Harbor," is actually steeped in a long heritage. Colorful buildings line the canal and hint at a history of small-vessel traffic. Like many ports, this strip has a salty history, rich with sailors, drinking and literary exploits. Danish author Hans Christian Andersen made his home in Nyhavn as well. It's cleaned up now and is a lovely place for a stroll.

We stayed near the Nyhavn area and spent time exploring the shops and the restaurants. It was bustling and exciting with lots to see and do. The food was good and the variety of shops should offer something for everyone. The colourful buildings make for an iconic photo of the canal. There are lots of opportunities for canal tours going out of the area. This is a must see if you are in Copenhagen for more than a day.

Picturesque canalside with many bars and restaurants. Menus are somewhat eclectic and involve a lot of fish and pickles. Prices extortionate.

This beautiful little harbour town was a 5 minutes walk from my hotel.
Really picturesque with its bright coloured buildings lining both sides of the river.
It was very busy but the atmosphere was great.Lots of bars,restaurants,souvenir shops and a lovely old fashioned cobbled streets to walk along.
Hans Christian Anderson apparently lived in some of these houses writing his famous stories.
There were several boat tours leaving every few minutes which seemed popular.I do recommend a boat tour from here.
I enjoyed walking through this area several times and relaxing on the benches.I ate at a few restaurants here,popular for fish dishes.
Very popular with cycles and it was nice to see people enjoying themselves cycling around the harbour roads and cycle lanes.
I even got to see a group of buskers singing by the restaurants which created a great atmosphere.
A lovely place to visit and great for photography especially when it is lit up in the evening.
There is a bike hire shop on the corner of the street,just before you cross the main bridge,highly recommend.
Would i come here again,oh yes.
Would i recommend a visit here,oh yes.
If your using a wheelchair or pram on the cobbled streets,be prepared for a bumpy ride.Public toilets available in the area.

Unfortunately we only had abut one hour before we catch our flight to Aruss but this place is unique and so beautiful that it is worth coming back and get to know it really well. We were there in January and it was extremely cold but still there were so many tourist visiting this amazing city.
We definitely planing to return in the summer next year.

Stop at a 7/11 and pick up a 6 pack of beer, some snacks, walk to Nyhavn, sit down and enjoy your drinks while you people watch.
