“WOW, exceeded our every expectation”
Reviewed 2 September 2014 for a stay in August 2014

This an amazing complex, a sight to behold. The views from any area of the estate are breathtaking. The pool overlooks the sea with direct views to Anti-Paros in every direction. At night sit out and have dinner, turn down the lights and gaze at the stars in all their splendor. Walk down to a beautiful rocky cove and do some snorkeling or walk 300 meters to a beach visited almost exclusively by local. Easy access to the capital town of eth island Parikia and Alyki beach as well as other point of interested on the island. The suites are clean modern, well-appointed, sully equipped and not lacking in any respect—Wifi is available throughout. As if all of the is not enough there is the warm hospitality of the owner Yiorgos and his wife Natasha, who also happen to be the architects who designed the villa complex. Ranya who works at the house all day could not be more helpful, she knows where everything is and can help you with any problems. Also, I can’t forget Nikos who handles the booking arrangements for the villa. What a team! If you are thinking about Paros this villa is a must as I don’t think there is a finer place to be had. Do rent a car as getting around will be made much easier, just ask Nikos or Yiorgos for help, in fact ask them for any recommendation at all and you will not go wrong.

“Spectacular, Magical, Unreal. Words do not suffice. Life-changing. Seriously.”

25 close friends and I got together and rented several villas, including The Edge, along with a majority of the rooms at the neighboring Archipelagos hotel. I stayed at The Edge.

Our days together stretched into long and special nights. Our time could not possibly have been more magical. Much of this had to do with The Edge and Yiorgos, its owner, Nick, his father, and Rania, its manager--all of whom welcomed us like family.

Let me give you some more details:

1. Location: Unbelievable. At the end of a winding dirt road, just after you begin to wonder whether you've made one of the biggest mistakes of your life, you crest the hill and pull into the driveway. Behold: The glistening waters of the Aegean, some small islands in the foreground, Antiparos and Siphnos, further and further still, stretching out of the impossibly blue water like dormant sea creatures. This magical sunset will be yours every night, leaving you breathless and so thankful for all the luck and blessings that lead you to this special place.

Let me promise you something: Unlike most slickly marketed properties, the photos do not The Edge justice. Not even close.

A friend had scouted locations around the Mediterranean for our event. We settled on The Edge because of its relatively easy access, its ability to provide guests privacy, the feeling of being disconnected but still close enough to civilization and Paros' villages, and the variety of housing options nearby, for our friends. I had looked at the pictures for months. Nothing prepared me the reality that would await my friends and me.

Last words on location: You're a beautiful hike from the beach (so don't come here if you have mobility issues), which happens to be a a beautiful, naturally heart-shaped bay. Seriously. A heart-shaped bay. There are two taverns there, the one closest to The Edge, Thassos, is by far the best. I tried both several times.

The water is perfect and the bay is NEVER crowded with swimmers. Heaven on earth.

2. The Edge's Architecture: Stunning. Sleek. Sophisticated. Simply, one of the most brilliant uses of space. To encourage gathering. And separation.

Again this is something I didn't appreciate from my friend who scouted or the pictures. But you have two separate houses, with two separate kitchens, plus two separate studios, with separate kitchens in each, PLUS the pool and all sorts of different hangout spaces all around the villa. Everyone has privacy when they want it. AND it is conducive to convening and simply being together. We didn't make much use of the kitchens, except to savor the wonderful concoctions of the incomparable Rania, and two nights when we brought in the shepherd-artist-chef Yanni (but more on that life-changing experience later.)

3. The Hosts: Yiorgos, the architect, Nick, his father (and Yiorgos' mom whose name I forget), and Rania the lead housekeeper are special people. They invested much in this place, and as their guests, they invest much in you. They were lovely and loving even when, admittedly, not every member of our group treated the space with the respect it deserves. They welcomed us and cleaned for us and made our stay nearly perfect. They are new to hosting at The Edge and our scout/organizer left them with minor recommendations to improve an already incomparable experience for future guests, including us when we return. But they have huge hearts. Yiorgos even spent an evening with us when we had a magical night in Naoussa.

Most importantly, they helped connect us to some wonderful local options, including restaurants, musicians, and Chef Yanni, the shepherd-chef who looks like a biker but cooks like a god.

The first meal he made for us he picked all the vegetables that morning from fields less than 100m from The Edge. We had, with unanimous consensus from our group of 25 extremely picky foodies, the best muscles, octopus and shrimp we have ever had. By far. Anywhere. The main courses were group--and simple--but with the freshest ingredients. HIs desert one night included a custard made with eggs he collected himself. Truly organic eggs, they ranged in size from relatively small to large with uneven shapes. Organic food at its best. And, yes, of course, the custard (not typically a favorite of mine) was light, uplifting, inspiring, and simply well delicious. He, too, was exceptionally warm and kind and it showed in his creations.

Now, onto things you should consider before you book:

1. Service standards: They are high. Very high. However, I think for the two dinners we hosted we actually needed additional professional staff to appreciate the quality of the food. There are some small things I would quibble with--and we left them with simple recommendations for these improvements. Again, our experience was EXQUISITE. The idea that things could improve is for the most picky among you, who might want a top-end luxury experience. Then you must be clear about that and get additional staffing to make that happen.

2. Style/Furnishings: The Edge is beyond beautiful. I am over-the-top in my praise. But it is NOT over-the-top luxury. The furnishings could be of a higher standard and also the bed in my studio had a hard mattress. That's common even in luxury hotels in Europe. I prefer softer mattresses with higher-end linen. Still, I think the style for The Edge and the combination of privacy along with relaxed community it inspires.

3. Amenities: They have nice local amenities in the rooms. They could have more, including a nice moisturizing lotion. Also, if you are hosting events and want music you do have some small stereos, but you will have to rent equipment and/or musicians. Finally, the WIFI /internet is unreliable. I hope they fix this immediately, as this did cause some frustration.

Truly, the only thing I REGRET about my experience is LEAVING.

Having this wonderful place with such kind and good and accommodating hosts was a highlight of my travels, and I'm lucky to travel extensively throughout the world. Paros is not the most spectacular place on earth. But it sure felt like it, with such a good group of friends. And, just as importantly, such a unique place like The Edge managed by such wonderful people. You will cherish your stay there for years to come.

We look forward to hopefully returning one day soon. Do yourself a favor and book now, while the opportunity still exists ;)

We had wonderful vacations on this house, everything was better than what we expected. Waking up with a great view, walking to a close and familiar beach, enjoying greek food, swimming in the overflowing pool, meeting friends and family sharing the house with us when ever we feel to do so (the house is big enough), watching kite surfers crossing the channel between Paros and Antiparos from the terraces, reading a book on the shadow protected from the Meltemi wind, magnificent sunsets,...,relax, distance, nature, simplicity, enjoying life, that´s what we got!
