Villa Dafni is a very good place to stay if you are three couples or a family of three plus couples. The owners made sure all apartments had milk, fruit and cereal on arrival. The apartments are each tastefully decorated and are very comfortable. I would, along with my friends, highly recommend this place for anyone interested. This was our first visit to Crete and we have all been highly impressed with both accommodation and the country. I would definitely rebook this villa.
We’re on the last day of our week in Villa Dafni and it’s been perfect. The Villa is far enough from everything to be peaceful, but has plenty nearby from Perama’s shops (the ice cream is amazing) and a restaurant that delivers (yes, we’re lazy and didn’t want to leave the villa) to nearby Panormos with its beaches and tavernas. The four of us have spent most of our time at the Villa, which comprises three self-contained one-bedroom houses, fully equipped kitchens (plus washing machine so you can pack light) and a beautiful pool in two sections: main part is quite chilly and encourages you to swim to warm up; whereas the kiddies’ bit warms up quicker in the sun and is a lot shallower.
The weather in early May has been lovely, although I think we’ll come a couple weeks later next time so the heat offsets the chill in the pool. The accommodation is perfect, we were met at midnight on arrival and shown round, and Costas (contact for anything you need) has been very helpful.
Top tip: don’t try to get down the wooden stairs with wet feet. Sounds obvious, but that’s how I’m also able to say the medical center here in Perama (7 mins drive from the villa and open 24/7) is also amazing, so helpful, quick and the staff clearly know what they’re doing.
We stayed 10 days in Dafni in May 2018. We were party of 7, 4 adults and 3 children (15, 15 and 12). The fact that it offers 3 seperate buildings was a big plus.. everyone had its privacy. Very clean, super swimmingpool and bbq facilities. Interieur is somewhat outdated, beds squick and at night there are some dogs that can bark. But very nice place to stay and we loved the welcoming package. Very nice!
We were a family group of five, (one grand-daughter having gone home after our first week in another villa). The owners have put this letting together very, very thoughtfully, using three old Greek houses and retaining their character and feel, but with modern appliances and a wonderful pool/barbeque area with views over the town of Perama.
Everything was extremely traditional inside the three houses, right down to the embroidered table cloths etc. and dark wood furniture and fittings.
The welcome pack was absolutely amazing, comprising everything you could possibly need for a week's stay (and possibly for a fortnight as well!) - fruit, olive oil, wine, water, bread, etc. etc. Also pool towels were provided, large fluffy blue ones in addition to the white ones for inside the houses.
My only gripe would be that this letting of three houses would not be suitable for anyone disabled; I have a spinal condition and found the many steps both inside and outside the houses to be difficult to negotiate, especially if you wanted the loo in the night! Also the beds were extremely hard to sleep on, but I think that is a common failing of holiday rentals.
We loved the pool and spent many hours in and around it. It was an easy drive to Panormos on the coast where there are many delightful tavernas. As both my daughter and myself have mobility problems, we didn't actually utilise the barbeque, but it looked very impressive and I'm sure it would have been great if we had found the energy to light it!
It would have been nice to have more sharp knives for cutting vegetables, bread and meat, also some scissors to cut open packets of food etc., and a large rectangular dish for making things such as briam and stuffed tomatoes etc. My son-in-law found the very large paella-style metal pan ideal for making a huge flatbread covered in all kinds of toppings and that worked really well.
I liked the many pots full of geraniums placed artistically around the whole place, and the fact that the washing machine (including washing liquid!) was easily available.
Would thoroughly recommend this letting, but suggest to the owners that they address the problem of a proper oven door in the first house, a tray for the oven in the second house and some more implements in the kitchen for cutting and chopping to make it truly self-catering.
An excellent stay.
