Words can’t describe what a perfect day we had sailing with Nikos on the deep blue of the Mediterranean before stopping in the most glorious cove with crystal clear blue water. Nikos was funny and kind and told us some incredible stories and shared his love of sailing with us throughout the day. It was infectious.

While we’ve had many adventures in Crete, I can’t imagine that this won’t be the highlight of our trip. With the perfectly planned lunch of Cretan foods with raki, wine, and feta, the kindness he and his crew showed will not be forgotten.

The seas were smooth, the views were perfection and the company was perfect. It is truly a perfect way to see parts of Chania that you wouldn’t expect to visit and to learn about its people and their love of the ocean.

We are a family of five adults, and we had the pleasure of spending a day aboard the 43-foot sailing yacht "Be Happy." From the moment we arrived, the experience was fantastic. The nearby parking made it easy for us to board, and we were warmly welcomed by our hosts, Nikos and Semeli.We set sail from Souda Bay at around 9:30 in the morning. The bay itself was fascinating, with military ships docked on the north side and an impressive flyover by four military jets in formation. We enjoyed a delicious breakfast of traditional Greek pastries as we made our way out to sea.Nikos and Semeli went above and beyond to make our day special. Nikos arranged for some fishing, which was a delightful addition to the sailing and swimming. Semeli's knowledge of local fish and her deep connection with the sea added a unique touch to our trip.The weather in the afternoon was perfect for sailing. We even sailed partway to Santorini, about 3 miles, and back. Each of us had the chance to take the wheel, and Nikos was incredibly kind and patient, allowing one of us to turn two circles when the boat veered off course and lost the wind.For lunch, we were treated to an incredible meal prepared right on board. Semeli, who is also a chef, made a simple yet delicious tomato sauce to accompany meatballs that were the best we've had anywhere in Greece. We also enjoyed a fresh salad, bread, pasta, and tzatziki, all made from local ingredients that you could really taste. Semeli even cleaned a fish we caught, which was an extra bonus and the best fish we ate during our stay.To top off a beautiful cruise, Nikos presented us with a small gift to remember the day. Our experience with Sail in Chania- cruise with "Be Happy" was truly unforgettable, thanks to the hospitality and expertise of Nikos and Semeli.
