We were greeted by letting us know we would not be getting the rooms we were promised as a larger group ( we were a group of 7) was checking in and they were "a priority" I found this insulting as I am sure we paid equally for our rooms. When we arrived there was no one to help take the luggage up the front steps to the lobby or assist in getting them to our rooms. Additionally, the hotel is worn and out of date. The hallway carpets are stained and overall it is dark and dingy. The beds were clean and the location was good. Unfotunately, I usually write a nice review, but in this case I must say I would never stay at a Eurostar hotel if this is representative of their brand.

Spent 6 nights in this hotel. Location is about 20 minute walk to the waterfront but that was fine for us as it was very crowded down there and we were happy to stay in a less touristy area. There is a bank and supermarket only half a block away and plenty of restaurants within a short walk. Hotel is clean and nice; we stayed in the 2nd building so rooms were modern although showing wear from the nicks and scuffs on the furniture. Room size was decent and the maid, Elizabete, kept our room spotless and everything looking great. The front desk employees were always available and friendly, especially Ricardo who was very helpful and friendly. We had room 103 and it did face some sort of school which could get noisy although not an issue after 5:30pm. Our room rate included breakfast which is served downstairs in a large room which was good as this hotel seems to cater to a lot of tour bus groups and the breakfast room could and did get very busy accommodating so many people at breakfast. The breakfast buffet was quite nice w/ eggs, pastries, cereals, fresh fruit, etc. And was usually well stocked unless we arrived at the same time as a couple of buses, then it seemed like the staff was struggling to keep up w/ the demand. All in all it's a nice hotel at the right price.

Room Tip: Maybe even numbered rooms that are not facing the school.

There are three really good things about this hotel. The location is near the main sights, it is a quiet hotel and the staff is terrific…helpful, friendly, personable.

The problems are as follows: The street where the hotel is located is a bit seedy. The furniture in our room was very tired, nicked, and worn. Outside our room was a LARGE stain on the rug…I’ve never been to a hotel with such an eyesore! There are no computers for guests to use (very unusual in a hotel of this size). I was told they were stolen, which I believe, and that the hotel chose not to replace them. This is a hotel of a major chain…hard to believe and that they would not replace them or that they couldn’t work out something to deter thieving guests from taking them. The little bar has just awful wine in a country that prides itself on its fine wine, but the waiters were wonderful.

The hotel is very clean and comfortable. Service is very good. It needs an urgent update and remodeling. Other than that is a good value. Location is good not excellent. Breakfast is included. Variety of items offer is good.
