Montesinho is a wonderful little village in the Natural Park, and this guesthouse was a real gem. It was a renovated old building, with generous sized rooms, comfortable beds and modern bathrooms. The accommodation included breakfast (OK) and evening meal (excellent). Our host, Robert, was friendly, helpful and proud of his establishment. We went on 2 daywalks through beautiful hills and varying scenery. We had a problem when the tracks went through some bushy territory because we did not have a compass. We got lost on each of our walks for a short period of time, but kept on in the general direction and luckily rejoined the route. The walk notes were detailed, but a compass is desirable. We booked through Portugal Walks travel company, but we had not received information about what to bring.
Apart from this, our stay was delightful, the weather great and the location absolutely amazing.

Room Tip: We were the only guests during our 3 day stay. I think all of the rooms have views of some sort. The village is very quiet at night.

A bit out of the way but that should be the goal for anyone coming here. A beautiful place in a very cute little village. The rooms are spacious and the shared areas are roomy and comfortable. While they do offer wifi, it is only in a small common area. Breakfast is a little sparse with some cereal and bread, but no eggs. The jams were in large family containers that many other previous patrons had the opportunity to play with. Perhaps individual portions would be more sanitary. While breakfast could be improved a little, dinner could not. It was excellent!! Overall, a very comfortable place to spend the evening, from dinner through breakfast.

A Lagosta Perdida (the lost lobster) is one of those rare places that you come across that ticks every box. After a wonderful drive over the hills you find yourself in a picture postcard village, where time looks as if it has stood still. After a warm welcome by Robert my wife and I were shown to our bedroom, which had been tastefully refurbished and was a mixture of wooden beams in the bedroom and a lovely modern bath/shower room and provided a comfortable setting for our three night stay. Each evening was spent enjoying conversation with the other guests over a lovely meal cooked by Robert and accompanied by nice wine. The swimming pool in the back garden provided a welcome place to relax after a walk in the surrounding hills or a day out sightseeing.
Overall A Lagosta Perdida is a great place to relax, forget about the outside world and enjoy everything the local area has to offer. It's definitely a place that my wife and I would like to return too and for both of us it was a perfect place to stay.

The entire village is cobbled with no asphalt in sight, a timeless atmosphere hangs among the kind and welcoming locals and the views of the natural park are spectacular.
Robert is kind and welcoming, if you are interested he can easily impart his great knowledge of the surrounding area, you are then calmly shown your room and given a brief tour of the facilities available. My room was private and quiet, a cool temperature and only a 30 second saunter away from the clear blue pool.
In short A Lagosta Perdida is a relaxing and beautiful stay that can be what you want it to. You would find entertainment enough to simply enjoy the pool, the food and the rustic village. However once you realize how special the location is you will be going on strolls through the breathtaking hills and looking up at the stars at night. I highly recommend it to anybody who is need of a retreat or a memorable holiday.

On a side note I noticed there was a very good looking teenager working there so be warned if you bring your daughters.

Following a recce in 2014 we booked a party of eight in for four nights. We walked three days, for 5 hours, from the hotel and received excellent advice as to the detail of the routes we chose. It is a huge advantage to be able to walk directly from the hotel itself.
The rooms have all the modern conveniences needed, comfortable beds, good showers, hot water and the added attraction of wooden floors and beams that continue the unique feeling throughout the ground floor of the perfect adaptation of ancient buildings to C21 use.
Roberts cooking is of a high standard and he was willing to cook for us the local dishes we wanted: lamb, bacalao, shellfish stew and chestnut soup. He also provided us with picnic lunches.
Roberts personal hospitality underscores everything.
Weather was perfect for walking.
