Arrived mid-morning to a very warm welcome at reception and although we were very early to check in we were advised that our room would be ready shortly. We were offered a drink while one of the reception staff explained a little bit about the hotel and city.
When we were shown our room in the attic we couldn’t believe it. It was amazing with lovely views of the city. It was a large room and bathroom with a big free standing bath and huge separate shower, certainly luxurious.
Breakfast was mainly the same every morning, fresh breads, croissants, meats, cheese etc although some people had bacon and eggs. We did eat in the restaurant, Cave 23 the first night which was a delight.
The hotel is only a ten minute walk into the main part of the city or there is the tram that goes down the steep hill and walk the rest of the way. We paid about 5 euros for a taxi back to the hotel after an evening in town. None of the drivers knew where the hotel was so on mentioning this to reception they wrote a few directions on their business card which was a great help.
We spent one lovely afternoon by the pool as it was so nice and considering we were in a city it was remarkably peaceful.
We felt that what really made this hotel special is the staff who were clearly very proud of the hotel. They were very helpful, informative and cheerful.

After a long flight, we were amazed to find such lovely accommodations. Tucked down a quiet driveway, we were welcomed with a beverage on a deck overlooking central Lisbon. The room was stately with updates that respected the elegance of this over 100 year old building. The room was spacious and soundproof. When we wanted to hear the "fado" rippling up from below, it was our choice. Located right next to a funicular, one has a choice to take it or the stairs. The morning breakfast was offered on a beautiful trellised deck. It was luxurious to wake up late and enjoy the relaxed ambience of the "Palace". Wished we could have stayed for a week!

Room tip: Lots of view rooms;even bottom floor is fabulous.

Everything about this hotel was good. Just a few niggles.... During our weeks stay our room was not serviced until very late in the afternoon which was abit inconvenient when you come back from a day out and just was to retreat to your room. Also, there was a distinct lack of information about the hotels amenities, restaurant, places to visit and recommendations where to eat and drink in Lisbon. This would have been good to have, but no doubt the excellent reception team would have guided us if we had gone to see them. Special thanks to the excellent barman and the guy that so expertly looked after us in Cave 23, the hotels new restaurant.

Really nice and relaxing Hotel with probably the best and most attentive service from ALL the staff I think I have ever experienced ( and I've stayed in over 1000 hotels ).

It's like having your own private concierge service - everything form booking cabs, recommending restaurants and even checking us in on line for return flights. Really cant fault the service and even though we had the more expensive Royal suite it wasn't much more expensive than a Chigwell Premier Inn !! - Amazing but please don't put the prices up !
We hope to find the time to come back again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Torel Place. The wonderful staff made us feel welcome and comfortable from the moment we arrived to the moment we left! Upon arrival one of the staff talked over a map of Lisbon with us marking of our location and places we might want to go while we had a drink on the beautiful terrace. This was so useful as our trip was really short! The little balcony is our room had a lovely view of the city. It was nice to be able to look our over the buildings and feel that you were in the middle of it all while still relaxing and having a drink/taking a break from walking around in your room! The bar in the hotel was also great with fantastic cocktails and a wonderful and knowledgable bartender. He makes a primo gin and tonic! We hope to come back to Lisbon soon and stay at the Torel Palace again!
