Had a really good surprise when going in this museum. You don’t pay to go in but if you bring a backpack they will ask you to leave it in some lockers that they have available (you will have to use 1€ to lock but you will get this coin back)
A lot of interactive rooms, and some of the interactions you can actually see again when you get home using the website that they give you and using the code of your ticket.
There’s a lot of different notes from places around the world.
There’s a cafe at the top floor.
Toilets are very clean and there is a lift for people with disabilities
There’s a gold bar that you can lift that is surprisingly heavy for the size.
Overall a really good experience and it is surprising that you don’t pay for it.
Very close to other interesting places to see

This is a relatively new museum downtown Lisboa. It was a church up to mid 20th century, then it was bought y Banco de Portugal, transformed into a car park (...) and a few years ago transformed into an amazing space - Museu do Dinheiro.
First GREAT thing: entrance is free, although you must get a ticket, which will also allow you to be very active throughout the visit with plenty of very interesting interactive quizzes and other information.
The layout is quite modern, great lighting, interesting artifacts (coins, bills) with a bit of bilingual explanations (Portuguese + English).
And you can also visit a fragment of the oldest wall of Lisbon, dated 13th century, with some of the exhibits found during the works to adapt the church.
We (2 adults) spent about 90 minutes going though Museu do Dinheiro, and definitely recommend it to any visitor...especially if you have kids with you, as some of the activities are really great for them ...although adults will aslo enjoy them :).

Very interesting interactive museum. I read in the reviews it's interesting for children but I enjoyed it a lot myself being an adult. Free entry.

Очень интересный интерактивный музей, понравится не только взрослым, но и детям. Бесплатный вход, удобное расположение - близко от площади Коммерции.

Free entry to this converted 17th century church/money museum. Find not only the expected history of money around the world, but also an interesting discussion on the value of money. Just the ticket for our Economics Nat5 exam teen!

Security at the door, which is fine, you just have to take off your bags and any metal items on you. One problem was that it is not clear as to where to go from there, we ended up in the wrong area!! There was good English signage and also very good art work. The coins and notes on display were very interesting, although history of the individual pieces was limited to the date and currency. Overall, nice experience.
