We stayed in this hotel for two nights as part of a six island tour of the Azores.
We received a warm welcome on arrival, and we were able to check in to our room which was probably the smallest of all those in the hotels we stayed in during our tour.
It was very clean, quite a small bed, and a nice view over the beautiful gardens next door, but we did feel the furniture was of a poor design with a big gap between the tv and the desk which looks as if it should have glass on top but doesn’t so is a waste of surface area of which there was little. Some fellow residents who we went on a trip with had a far superior room to ours on two levels apparently.
The fridge below had nothing in it and didn’t appear to work. We were on the fourth floor and just opposite from our room was a sun terrace with tables and chairs which was pleasant for both the afternoon and evening. I feel this could be decorated a bit more to be made more attractive. A bit high up for bar service, but you never know!
The downstairs area is clean and very spacious, and the bar looks nice, but we didn’t use it as there is a cafe/bar in the square outside which had more atmosphere.
Breakfast was good and taken in a room overlooking the gardens.
The hotel is situated about five minutes walk across the square from streets leading to the harbour with a great choice of restaurants. There is a small beach of golden sand by the harbour also.
This was the only hotel that we stayed in that had a real city vibe to the surroundings, but once inside there is no noise. We were fortunate to experience a military band playing in the square on our last night and that added to our stay considerably.
We spent our last morning before we were collected for the airport exploring the gardens next door....so beautiful and tended so carefully. Overall we would recommend this hotel for a stay in Angra.
