The pousada de Sagres is in a stunning location, on top of a promontory with gorgeous views of the ocean, the Sagres fortress and the Cape São Vicente with it's lighthouse in the distance. The food is very good and service in the whole hotel is excellent. Attentive staff in all areas, particularly in the restaurant. The rooms are comfortable and functional though not very large. We had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay.

I absolutely loved this charming hotel! The location is beyond compare, with positively stunning views of the ocean. The pool is gorgeous. The breakfast is phenomenal, with fresh juices and so many options--and it is included in the rate. My room was plenty large, with a pretty view. Yes, the bathroom was dated and could use being refreshed, and the mattress was not the best--those were my biggest complaints. The staff was friendly and welcoming, always smiling. I enjoyed my stay here so much, and would happily return. It was an overall terrific experience.

We had an excellent stay to the Pousada Sagres.
Perhaps the standout point are the views which are amazing, however we also found the staff - both reception and in the dining room - to be really friendly and welcoming.
Parking is easy - right next to the hotel in their own car park. Our room was large with excellent sea views.
We ate in the restaurant - Wednesday night is ‘BBQ Night’ - which was a buffet style menu with of course fish, shrimps and pork that had been barbecued. We found it good quality and value, and it was relaxed, comfortable environment.
Breakfast we ate outside on the terrace and the choice and food quality was excellent.
It was quite an expensive hotel and we only stopped one night but we felt it was special and I would recommend it.

Substandard, poor value.
The hotel is smelly and drafty. Breakfast was only average in both selection and quality.
We were out 8 am to 3 pm which was seemingly not enough to make our room. If you want to get it cleaned, you need to negociate with the cleaners and you might still find your room occupied when you return.
Due to an evening flight, we asked if late checkout was available 2 days before departure. Answer: Ask again in the morning of your checkout day.
Because often at 3am a truckload of guests arrive without reservation?
Great ocean view, the rest is a writeoff.

We inform you that our housekeeping team cleans all rooms every day between 9 am and 6 pm, however, whenever a guest requests the cleaning service or shares with us a specific reference time, we will be happy to comply with the request.
Regarding the Late Check Out service, it is a service always subject to availability and unfortunately we can only confirm this service on the morning of the Departure, due to high occupancy, and housekeeping needing to have such room ready for the next guest to arrive at 3 pm.

This is a lovely hotel in a quiet location with stunning views from our seaview suite. The breakfast is excellent, fresh orange juice and good coffee, so rare these days. We had dinner in the restaurant which was also very good although the service was extremely slow. Local restaurants Carlos and Villa Velha are excellent choices.
We had one problem with a blocked drain which was sorted out very speedily by housekeeping which tells me it wasn't the first time they had encountered the problem. As mentioned by another review there was a lingering smell of bad drains throughout our stay. Despite this the general standard of housekeeping is outstanding and the hotel is spotlessly clean.
Without exception the staff are amazing, very professional but still friendly and helpful. There were some nice touches, a bottle of water in the room every day and fresh fruit delivered every evening. The hotel is a little old fashioned but we liked that and along with some good old fashioned service our stay was very enjoyable.
