A lovely villa in the perfect location just a short walk to the centre of Lagos and the beach. The villa is large and well equipped, with everything you need to make your stay very comfortable. The pool and garden area are brilliant. The only downside to the villa was the smell of dampness on the ground floor (where the bedrooms are located), which was coming from the basement which houses the tank for the pool. It would be great if this could be addressed as if it hadn't been for this we would have definitely rated it as 5 star. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and found Lisa, the villa manager, extremely helpful. We would recommend this villa as a great place to stay.
From start to finish it was an absolute pleasure dealing with both Caroline and Lisa. The photos of the villa really do not do it justice, it's a fabulous size, extremely well laid out, with a really nice garden and pool in a quiet area. The villa is equipped with everything you would need for your stay, the bedrooms being air conditioned made a huge difference at night. The main bed was hard but that's my own personal preference- my husband slept like a log. Air Conditioning wasn't necessary upstairs due to the huge windows which allowed a good breeze and we kept the curtains shut on the side the sun was shining on which stopped it getting too hot in the day.
We did hire a car after talking to Caroline and reading previous reviews and although you could walk to the beach by following a track opposite the property or to the harbour the walk back is up quite a hill and with 2 children after a long day I think it could end up being a bit of a trek for any children under 10. By car the beach is a very short drive (5 minutes) with ample free parking at the beaches and the harbour and many supermarkets are 5 minutes in the other direction again with loads of free parking, the roads are very quiet (I didn't witness any mental drivers just don't expect them to indicate when leaving a roundabout) and I drove everyday without any issues, it's also a very easy journey from Faro airport (just under an hour). We noticed our neighbour used lots of taxis so I am sure this would also be an easy option. There are a few restaurants around the beaches but most are found in the harbour, we visited the Jardim restaurant which again is about 5 minutes drive by the beach and has a good children's menu and some lovely fish dishes.
The beach at Meia Praia was lovely, not crowded and the sea was great for a swim or to search for shells.
When eating in the BBQ on the Terrace made for relaxing dining and was used nearly every other night.
Having a dishwasher - no arguments on washing up. Having a washing machine - great!
We also went dolphin watching with Seafaris (another recommendation by Caroline) on a Tornado boat (which was very exciting for the kids), we saw plenty of dolphins and it was a fantastic experience. Having wifi at the property was also a bonus as it meant we could research and book places we wanted to visit easily.
We have booked to return next year as there is still plenty to see and do and we couldn't find a better place to call our base whilst we explore.
I recommend this Villa highly!
The villa was lovely it contained absolutely everything we needed for a very comfortable stay, the pool was really nice and a big hit with my children it had plenty of sun beds the villa was lovely and clean with everything you could possible need for your holiday. It is fairly well located about a 10 minute walk from a beautiful beach and about a 15 minute walk to the local amenities restaurants supermarkets etc..
The villa had air con in all the bedrooms which was great but it did not have any in the main living area which would have been nice as it did get really hot there. During the day it was fine we could just keep all the windows open which created a nice air flow through but this was not possible at night when we had to keep them closed to keep the insects out.
The only real downside was the walk to all the amenities the mid section of the walk which was about 5 minutes long there was no footpaths on either side of the road which was really dangerous especially when walking with young children. We walked down during the daylight hours but would not risk as it would have been far to dangerous at night and always got cabs. Cars and motorbikes do speed along that stretch and its not possible for head on traffic to pass each other without one car driving onto the dirt track which is the only place for pedestrians to walk.
We had a lovely stay at Villa Albardeira. It is located in a peaceful spot just outside the main town, but within walking distance (uphill on the way back!) of the Marina. It's a bit further to walk to the central area of Lagos so we were pleased to have hired a car. The beach was about a 15 minute walk and was very quiet with plenty of space.
The villa itself is very comfortable, spacious and well-equipped with a lovely garden and pool area. We had a warm and friendly welcome from the owner, Lisa.
We loved Lagos - a really nice resort with a good mix of restaurants and things to do.
We had a fantastic break in this lovely villa. The location is peaceful, close to the town, marina and beautiful beaches. The pool was enjoyed by us all, and both the pool and garden areas were lovingly maintained during our stay. The villa is very spacious and ideal for eating al fresco with both a well equipped kitchen and a BBQ. We did hire a car for our stay, which we found useful in the July heat, not only for visits to the supermarket but also as the villa is situated in an elevated position. Lisa the owner made us very welcome and was helpful in recommending a list of places to eat and visit. We hope to return again next year.
