So a full review ahead for you guys..

Location... Absolutely spot on!!! It is located just off a side street in the old town, so it isn't loud at night but is within walking distance of bars, restaurants, shops and the beach!

The hotels outer is basic but clearly signposted, a slight downside is that it is half way up a steep hill so if you have mobility issues I would consider somewhere else, other than that, no complaints.

The reception has everything you need, desk, sofas, leaflets etc. We arrived at about 12am so was greeted by the night guard who was a lovely man, he told us everything we needed to know and showed us up to our room. The front door to reception is also locked for security at 11pm and the night guard is on hand to open it when you come back after your night on the town!

The key system varies in the sense that some rooms you have to put the key in a hole on the wall inside the room in order to put on the electricity which fortunately we didn't have to do. But we have had to do this in other hotels previously and it can be a nightmare as you can't leave the air con on whilst you're out so come back to a boiling room and you only get one key per room (so you can leave your partner in the room when they're being a pain :P). You also have to hand your key in at reception when you leave and pick it up when you come back, I think this is a good system personally as then you have no chance of losing it. But you can make your own decisions about that system.

The rooms are basic but have everything you could want.
Comfy bed
Extra blankets
Air con
Hair dryer
En suite with all the essential (including one of them bum washing facilities)

We didn't have breakfast included so can't comment on the food as we didn't eat there.

The bar wasn't open, I don't know if it was ever open but that isn't an issue as there is literally 100's of bars within a 5 minute walking distance.

The pool is up on the roof with some amazing views, it isn't big but has about 15 sun loungers around it if you wanted to catch some rays in the comfort of your own hotel.

There is a lift on site, it is quite an old lift that creaks but it does its job.

The staff vary. As previously mentioned, cannot fault the night guard at all. There was a gentleman on reception one day who organised a transfer for us to Faro airport as our departing flight was at 8am, this cost us €30 for both of us in a private taxi but there was options of shuttle bus for cheaper. He was a lovely gentleman, he rang the company for us, we paid him and received a voucher and the transfer arrived the morning of our flight. There was another lady who was on reception one day, well she was doing something around the ground floor but we needed her attention as we had left our key in the room the night before, the night guard let us in, the maids had handed it in and we needed to collect it to get in again this time. This woman was very rude, didn't say one word to us, and tutted at us because we'd rang the bell to get her attention.

The maids were lovely, they came and made our bed, gave us clean towels etc everyday. One day we ran into them after being to the pool and they were sat on the end of our bed having a chat, no major issue, they apologised and carried on cleaning.

Overall, this hotel is the definition of you get what you pay for. It was very clean and at a bargain price especially if location is your main priority.

Stayed here as a couples holiday at the beginning of November. We did it as a cheap holiday but the next time I think I will invest more in accommodation. Having said that the staff are lovely and the location is great. It is off one of the side streets leading down to the square, it's a two minute walk to the old town square and then four minutes to the beach. The rooms are very basic.. no double beds available, they are two single beds pushed together. Shower was quite small but it did the job. The rooms aren't very sound proof, on the first night there I thought there was someone else in the room with us snoring.. it was the person next to us. Breakfast was grand, slice of bread, cheese and meat to do us in the morning. Plenty of fruit and juices were there also so no complaints regarding the breakfast. The pool area is nice. Sat up there most days reading by the pool. The hotel is ok, staff are lovely, it is very basic but as I said you get what you pay for.

Oh and you'll have amazing calf muscles after walking up the hill to it every day :D

My friend and I stayed here during our visit to Albufeira in September and thought it was great. Aubrey went out of his way to make sure we had a great stay. He’s a really lovely man from South Africa who helped us figure out the places to visit in Albufeira and the places to avoid. The location of the hotel is excellent with the old town centre being a 5 minute walk and the beach being less than 10 minutes away. The rooms are clean and basic with comfy beds and good air conditioning. If you’re looking for a expensive and luxurious hotel this isn’t the one for you but if you want somewhere that is clean and safe with a good location and friendly staff then this is the one to stay in.
