Description: Welcome to the website of Restaurant A Ruina, located in Albufeira, in the charismatic Praia dos Pescadores. To meet us is like tasting the best in the Typical Algarvian Gastronomy. • Using the wall structure from the Tower wich defended Sant'Ana's Door, the restaurant A Ruina is open since 1971 - with Joao and Salome Lazaro: the art of good hospitality, always - associated with the development of Albufeira. With four interior rooms, being one of them an ancient well room, in the Summer you can enjoy the terrace and the esplanada at the beach.

This was our last night special occasion dinner. It is the first place I have been where the chef shows you the choices and explains all the different fish options. It was a lovely meal but a little expensive to what we usually do but accepting it was a special occasion, the location was really lovely and we could have taken as long as we liked; we weren't hurried in any sense. Just that we got chilly after the sun went down early season.

Lovely views over the beach & sea. Choose your fish from the chef and sit back with a glass of cold wine. Great service and heaters on patio so nuce and warm if you go up the many flights to the top. You may get stung cost sure as not east to kbow what you're ordering as its based on type of fish and weight. Good was good (Not great) but views and ambience make it great.

A location on the beach and a beautiful restoration attracted my wife and me for a light seafood lunch. We each settled on mussels in a garlic sauce, not being familiar with ordering fish by the pound in a restaurant. With half a bottle of house white wine, and treating ourselves to profiteroles, our bill was 53 euros.

Tried here after seeing it on a previous visit but didn’t have time to try it.It is a bit difficult to figure out the pricing as the prices are on a blackboard, and are in Portuguese,so be prepared to be surprised by your bill.we had a portion of cod fish cakes and a portion of baby squids for starters, which came with a basket of nice fresh bread, followed by grilled salmon and grilled swordfish, served with buttered vegetables.and then we had one desert between us,which was a fig,Carob and almond tart, which was very nice.along with a couple of beers and some sparkling waters, the bill was €86.considering the ambience, excellent location and view, outdoor seating with heating, very good waiting staff,I think it was a fair price, albeit more expensive than most other places around.but I would come back,as the food was very nice.

Nice setting in the old town right by the beach, and very good service by staff with nice seating area. However the food was disappointing and lacked real flavour apart from the lashings of lemon juice we had to apply. The main sore point was the price of the fish for main courses - they don't have menus to tell you the prices beforehand so it was a huge shock when we got the bill. We ordered Bream which cost over €140 for three people. In my country the fishermen throw the bream back in the sea when they catch it as it doesn't sell. We ordered two bottles of wine also, and found them in Spar in the old town later for one fifth of the price.
I would still go here as it's a lovely atmosphere but be very very careful about what your order and ASK the price before they cook your main course.
