Traditional, small hotel. We had well appointed room: clean and comfortable with classic solid furniture. Nice restaurant, enjoyed the evening meal. A good breakfast. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

I cannot say enough about this accidental find in Marvao. We were looking for a place in which the four of us could stay in one room, that was near Castelo de Vide. We stumbled upon this hotel and cannot say enough about the family who owns it. They were so accommodating to our every need. We had a home cooked meal that was beyond delicious every night and a full breakfast every morning. We had inquired before the trip if they had gluten free options. Not only did they have gluten free options, but they were prepared with several different gluten free breads and rolls that they bought just for me for my visit. Bruno, our waiter, guide, map genius and overall support system answered any question that we had. He asked every day how our son was doing in his soccer matches (which was why we were in Portugal). The hotel was clean, and had everything you needed. I cannot say enough about this wonderful gem, located within the castle walls. It is great for a family stay!

We stayed for 3 nights on our Alentejo road trip. Marvao is a fascinating place to visit and the hotel is in a good location. It was clean and spacious and we were able to park easily. The interior is attractive and we ate in one night, which was fine, BUT, its difficult, because the place was just a bit soul-less. And in an area full of oranges they served carton orange juice for breakfast! Unforgivable! There is nothing actually wrong with the hotel, but another time we'd stay at the nearby Pousada. Sorry.

Room tip: Not near Reception.

If you check in early enough, ask for one of the 2nd floor rooms that have a small balcony. Great nightime view of the castle and/or countryside, Spain is just across the river. Decent sized room with chair, desk and dresser, double beds only. No safe, not a concern. Roomy shower, good water pressure, surprisingly ample breakfast buffet for a small hotel, very nice. Dinner as well was good, with limited dining options in Marvao itself. Great tomato soup.

The hotel is in a stout building on the edge of the village, with a large parking area outside. Rooms are situated on several floors; the dining room is downstairs. The historic ruined castle is 5 mins walk up through the narrow village streets. Views from the castle are stunning!
The rooms in the hotel are quiet and clean, more quaint than stylish. We had supper in the hotel; an adequate, slightly over-priced meal. The breakfast buffet was also adequate.
