Very friendly waiters and a nice canal-side location. Modern concept, and great potential. The starters were excellent, we had a very tasty fennel with goat cheese, excellent rillettes, cold cuts, etc. All great. The wine list is not long, but the wines are good. Our problem is the main courses. Our pork tenderloin was overcooked, and the sides very not too tasty either. The bouillabaisse was runny and the solid contents amounted to three small shells and a piece of fish. Finally, price/quality is off, ie. too expensive for the quality on offer. Sadly.

Bodo is just steps from Central Gent and Gravensteen Castle. Cozy, interior with a clean modern feel that stands out among Gent's old world feel. It's all local Gent and Flemish fare with a French twist, but you usually won' find the typical Gent stew or Mussels. They dig a bit deeper into the regions menu, but keep dishes simple and clean. Try the Gentse Waterzooi stew. Amazing! And unlike many places in Gent where you eat elbow to elbow with everyone else, the tables at Bodo are quite far apart - by Gent standards. It's not an overpriced tourist trap either. Locals frequent it as much or more than visitors.

Atmosphere here is quaint, cozy. Pillows on chairs add a touch of comfort. The service was wonderful. Here, the staff wait on you in an ensemble kind of way rather than one server handling everything. We worked with the very knowledgeable sommelier to select our wine. She paired a nice pinot noir with our choices of Flemish chicken/meatballs/croquettes and bouillabaisse. For dessert, we enjoyed a chocolate lava type cake which was warm, melty, and a nice kiss-goodnight. Would return!

Truly enjoyed this place. Walked in almost by accident after our original restaurant was closed. While trying to find another place in the middle of a rain shower, we stumbled into this restaurant. It had everything we hoped for: great atmosphere (with astonishing views of the castle), good service and delicious food (including belgium beer). My wife and I had a great lunch here - give it a try!

On a beautiful spot opposite Castle of the Counts- ask for a river window seat if you can!
Service also great, & all the staff are gorgeous male models too!
