The previous review is very accurate and unfortunately we were not aware of the ceiling height before we booked. My husband is over 6ft so it was an issue for us.
This is a basement apartment, the positives are that it is close to transport and there is easy access to the center of Amsterdam.
Apartment is very clean, beautifully decorated and in a great location. Kitchen is well equipped, bed is comfy and there's loads of hot water. The owners very happily let us in before check in time and a little earlier than the agreed arrival time. A helpful hints book was provided and explained.
This is a souteraine apartment accessed through the front door of the owners home, consequently the ceilings are low which were fine for us but someone over 6' in height would struggle. The garden is accessible for guests although this requires asking the owners first and walking through their part of the house.
The art work and furniture give a modern luxurious feel - but one pillow each and a beautiful painting as the head board make sitting up in bed a bit challenging.
The bathroom is lovely - there's a beautiful Moroccan lamp hanging over the bath which unfortunately makes getting in and out a bit challenging. But bath is deep and easily large enough for two. The shower is only for use in bath and it's only possible to shower sitting down.
The fact no apartment key was given to us and it remained unlocked for our whole stay was a little strange, you indicate whether you're in or out by turning a sign on the door. As was the washing machine and tumble dryer - which they used daily while we were here but was locked when not in use by them. So was the dog food stored in the kitchen! It feels as though the apartment even though rented out remains an extension of the owners home.
