Nice, clean, quiet and comfortable.

Review of Rho Hotel
4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 7 Jun 2024via mobile
Nice, clean hotel just off Dam Square in Amsterdam. We stayed for 3 nights. Hotel was quiet, room was comfortable but the bed was not to our liking.
There are no coffee/tea making facilities in the room, however free coffee and tea are available at reception as well as several drink and snack machines. There is a small fridge in the room to keep things cold.
Staff are friendly and have a good grasp of local attractions etc. Their English is excellent which is a bonus given that my Dutch is minimal.
Lighting in the room is a little on the dim side but adequate, given that we were only there to sleep. The usual safe is provided.
The bathroom was clean and bright although a bit dated.
The price, as all hotels in Amsterdam was a bit high but fair.
We will stay there again on our next visit.
Date of stay: June 2024
Room Tip: Add breakfast to your stay. For 15 Eurostar, it's well worth it.

We have stayed 3 different times. The location can’t be beat, right off Dam Square. They have been doing some renovations and this year our room had air conditioning which was very welcomed. Good Standard hotel with a sitting area in each of the rooms we have had, also excellent staff and a yummy breakfast.

The hotel is located in the center of the city near Dam square. This location offers close proximity to the tram, central train station and attractions. However the area is very noisy. The AC system is not turned on until May so you must open a window, directly propagating the noisy of the drunk streets below. Getting any sort of restful sleep is a challenge. The hotel room is clean the rooms are dated the bathroom showers look like prison showers. They charge a premium for the night, however I do not think it’s worth the money they charge.

Room tip: Avoid if you plan on sleeping

Location is good but that’s about it. Room is very dark. Asked for a quiet room and they gave us a room where we hear all the street noise. Internet does not work in the room. Towels thin and stained. Dirty old carpet. Unforgettable bed and pillows. I do not recommend.

Room tip: Very noisy hotel

The Rho hotel is SO CLOSE to everything! The Dam, less than 2 minutes away. Close to trains, clean, convenient. Beautiful court yard. Excellent staff. The stained glass atrium was a work of art onto itself! So happy it was not destroyed in WW2! Strongly recommend! Thanks so much!

Room tip: A good, safe to stay. Now get out and do something!

If you have paid over £100 a night to stay at the Rhio, you would expect two minimum basics - the ability to make a cup of tea or coffee in your room when you wake up and - later- the ability to see in your room in the evening. The lights are so dimmed I couldn’t read and, when I asked for a kettle for the morning, I was told with great indignation, if you want tea, come for breakfast. I have never been in even a basic hotel where you can’t make tea in your room. What use is the fridge in my room?? I am not storing chilled food!
Yes. It’s central but come on????
